Officials stated on Friday that Go First, formerly known as GoAir, is the first private airline to gain certification from the Airports Authority of India (AAI ) for night parking at Srinagar and Jammu airports.
On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha opened the night parking service at the airports. This provision ensures that the two airports can take off late at night and early in the morning.
“This is a big development for the union territory,” a Go First representative said. “Since the night parking authorization would promote better flight operations from the region.”
“We appreciate the authorities’ concern and will continue our commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir,” said Kaushik Khona, Chief Executive Officer of Go First.
According to him, Go First is the only aircraft authorised to transport horticulture perishable and agricultural produce for the Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Products, a state-owned firm.
Sinha, speaking at the ceremony, said the effort will make air travel easier while also benefiting the hospitality business.
"The fresh beginning demonstrates our dedication to improve connection and meet people's mobility needs. For individuals wishing to travel for a single day, the project will make it simple "Sinha explained. "By expanding infrastructure, creating the enabling environment, and guaranteeing greater connectivity, we are going forward to fulfil M Modi's goal of making Jammu and Kashmir a flourishing industrial and tourism centre," he added. Despite COVID-19, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the Jammu and Srinagar airports had remained open.
