GURUGRAM- Vistara Airlines (UK), the domestic carrier owned by the Tata group, announced on April 1 that it will temporarily reduce its flight operations to “maintain sufficient connectivity across its network” due to issues related to “crew unavailability.”
Recently, the airline has faced numerous complaints regarding delays and cancellations. It acknowledged these issues and assured passengers that it was taking appropriate measures to address their concerns.
Vistara Cancels Flights
“We have recently experienced many flight cancellations and delays, primarily due to crew unavailability. We recognize and are deeply concerned about the inconvenience caused to our customers,” stated a spokesperson for Vistara.
The airline further explained, “Nevertheless, our teams are actively working to minimize customer discomfort. As part of this effort, we have temporarily reduced our flight operations to ensure adequate connectivity across our network.”
Moreover, the airline announced its plan to utilize larger aircraft like the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and A321neo on specific domestic routes to consolidate flights or accommodate more passengers, wherever feasible.
“Additionally, we are providing alternative flight choices or refunds to impacted customers, as appropriate,” it stated.
The Tata-supported airline assured it would return to regular capacity operation “very soon.”
The airline has faced significant criticism due to the delays and cancellations, with reports indicating approximately 49 flight cancellations on April 1.
Passenger Frustrated with Delays and Cancellations
Commuters voiced their frustration on social media platform X.
One user expressed, “Pathetic! First, you canceled UK850 for operational reasons. Now, UK 840 is significantly delayed by 4 hours with no communication. Management, please address this.”
The airline responded, “We regret to hear about your disappointment. The delay of Flight UK 840 is due to operational reasons, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. While we always aim to maintain punctuality, such delays are unforeseen. Rest assured, we are working to expedite the process. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to improve our service. Thanks, Lehar (2/2)”
Another user shared, “I booked UK761 this morning to attend a US Visa interview in Kolkata. I applied for a US Visa last year and chose Kolkata due to the shorter waiting period (7 months). Now, the flight is delayed without clarity on the rescheduled time.”
Vistara expressed regret and stated, “We empathize with your sentiments. We acknowledge that you have traveled to your destination. Nevertheless, it is not feasible for us to compensate in this situation. Our options are limited to offering a full refund or an alternative flight in unfortunate circumstances.”
