DUBAI- Emirates Airlines (EK) empowers 20,000 staff for enhanced passenger service and in-flight efficiency by equipping them with iPhones and iPad Air devices, marking another business victory for Apple.
In the aviation industry, Apple equipment deals like this one aren’t new. Over the past decade, Apple’s products have become standard, used by everyone from cabin crew and flight control.
Emirates Cabin Crew iPhones and iPads
The airline has introduced a fresh approach named ‘One Device,’ making use of Apple products. Emirates will equip all 20,000 Cabin Crew members with either iPhone 13 or iPad Air.
These devices are specially configured with custom Emirates apps, designed to elevate passenger service, streamline onboard operations, and ultimately enhance the overall crew experience.
Emirates initiated the deployment of these devices a year ago, with over 7,000 crew members currently utilizing iPhones on 450 daily flights across the global network.
In the coming months, an additional 5,000 cabin crew members will receive these devices.
Emirates In-Flight Experience Enhancement
Emirates in-house Service Delivery and IT teams carried out an extensive user research campaign with cabin crew. They used the insights to design and create a range of native, custom-built apps for iPhones and iPads.
They built custom apps to enhance the cabin crew’s user experience and ensuring passengers receive the world-class service.
Emirates IT Team asserts that the survey has confirmed how Apple products contribute to cabin crew’s enhanced preparedness at work and their ability to provide highly personalized service to passengers.
For BYOD enthusiasts, these managed devices incorporate data separation. It allows crew members to use them for personal purposes while keeping their private data secure.
IT professionals should take note that the airline has diligently prepared for this deployment. They are conducting thorough trials and research within the first cohort of deployed devices.
Furthermore, the company has established a 24/7 support center in Dubai, where cabin crew can seek assistance in learning and utilizing the devices.
