Akasa Air has flown in Indian skies for over seven months. The airline has been the fastest among Indian airlines to reach 20 aircraft. Vinay Dube, founder and CEO of Akasa Air, says the airline plans to start international flights before the end of the year.

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, intends to hire nearly 1,000 new employees and expand its fleet by March 2024. According to CEO Vinay Dube, the airline’s total employee count would exceed 3,000 by that time, including 1,100 pilots and flight attendants.
The first few international destinations for Akasa Air may be Singapore, Qatar, and Oman.

As Akasa Air prepares to receive its 20th aircraft, it will have met a critical criteria to begin foreign flights under DGCA guidelines. In an interview with Akasa co-founder and Head of Operations Neelu Khatri, who discussed the carrier’s aspirations for international flights.
Akasa Air has already formally ordered 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, but the low-cost carrier intends to order an additional over 100 in the near future.
The Akasa Group, India’s youngest airline, is on a goal to expand female employee participation from 37% to 50%. With the government aiming for 200 airports and at least 1,200 commercial aircraft, the number of female pilots is only going to increase.
