TATA SIA Vistara (UK) CEO Vinod Kannan confirmed that the airline is poised to submit its response to the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) inquiries regarding the proposed merger with Air India (AI).

Tata group-owned Air India (AI) and Vistara (UK) have informed the Competition Commission of India (CCI) that their merger will not negatively affect competition in the aviation sector.

According to a senior executive, TATA SIA Vistara (UK) plans to expand its operations by adding 10 aircraft and hiring over 1,000 personnel in the current fiscal year.
Vistara (UK), is seeking fleet expansion and boosting their networks to European destinations ahead of its merger with Air India.
The Air India Vistara merger will have a significant impact on the two carriers’ workforce. Nonetheless, the consequences will be severe for both airlines’ employees.
Vistara and Air India, both owned by Tata Sons, have begun their integration process in order to finalise the merger as soon as possible.
Vistara CEO said in a press statement that, Vistara will be an independent carrier and will act as a competitor to Air India.
