ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) is preparing a major upgrade to its long-haul premium offering with new Delta One business class suites planned for its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The jets are expected to become the airline’s most premium widebodies when deliveries begin later this decade.
The new cabins will debut on aircraft operating long-haul routes from key hubs such as Atlanta (ATL), reinforcing Delta’s focus on modernizing its international product while increasing premium seat density.

Delta New A350 Business Class
Delta has 20 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on order, with the first delivery currently expected in 2027. These aircraft will be larger than Delta’s existing A350-900s and are positioned as the airline’s future flagship for long-haul international routes.
Industry sources indicate Delta plans to install the Thompson Aero VantageNOVA business class seat on these aircraft.
If confirmed, this would make Delta the launch customer for the VantageNOVA product, which was officially unveiled in 2024 but has not yet entered commercial service.
The A350-1000 is expected to feature between 50 and 53 business class suites. This would mark the highest number of business class seats ever installed on a Delta aircraft, signaling a strong emphasis on premium revenue.

Cabin Layout and Seat Configuration Details
The Thompson Aero VantageNOVA seat is designed for flexibility and high-density premium cabins. Delta is expected to adopt a 1-2-1 layout across the business class cabin, ensuring all passengers have direct aisle access.
Two primary configurations are possible:
- A full reverse herringbone layout, where window seats face outward, and center seats angle toward each other.
- A hybrid layout, combining herringbone window seats facing the aisle with reverse herringbone center seats.

Most industry observers expect Delta to favor the full reverse herringbone option, as it typically offers better privacy and window views.
The seat is engineered for efficiency, with pitch measurements as low as 40 inches, allowing airlines to maximize cabin capacity without removing key premium features, OMAAT reported.
Business Class Plus and Technology Focus
VantageNOVA also includes an optional front-row Business Class Plus concept. This product uses the additional space in the first row to offer larger personal areas, increased storage, and enhanced privacy, targeting high-yield travelers.
As with most modern business class designs, the focus is less on seat padding and more on features. These include sliding privacy doors, larger entertainment screens, multiple charging options, and Bluetooth audio connectivity. Comfort gains are increasingly tied to personal space and technology rather than seat structure alone.

How Delta’s Choice Compares With Competitors
American Airlines and United Airlines are both introducing new business class cabins based on the Adient Ascent platform.
While the VantageNOVA and Adient Ascent seats are different products, they share similar design goals, including efficient footprints, door-equipped suites, and configurable herringbone layouts.
The key differentiator will likely be scale. Delta’s challenge will not be the quality of the seat, but how quickly the product spreads across the fleet. At present, there is no indication that Delta plans to retrofit existing A350-900s, A330s, or 767s with the new suites.

Fleet Strategy and Long-Term Outlook
Delta’s A350-1000s are expected to enter service gradually, with no confirmed plans for retrofitting older widebody aircraft. This suggests the new Delta One suite will remain exclusive to the A350-1000 fleet for the foreseeable future.
While this limits near-term exposure for frequent flyers, it aligns with Delta’s broader strategy of introducing new products only on factory-fresh aircraft, where installation costs and design compromises are lower.

Bottom Line
Delta Air Lines plans to debut a new Delta One business class suite on its Airbus A350-1000 aircraft starting in 2027.
The airline is expected to install the Thompson Aero VantageNOVA seat, with more than 50 suites per aircraft, making these jets the most premium-configured in Delta’s fleet. If confirmed, Delta would also become the launch customer for this new business class product.
