LAGOS— Delta Air Lines (DL) has faced back-to-back disruptions on its Lagos-Atlanta service, leaving passengers dealing with cancellations, rebooking difficulties and extended delays. The affected route connects Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in the United States.
The disruption began with the service scheduled for August 23, 2026, and continued after passengers were moved to a later departure. Flight tracking data and local reports indicate that the situation stretched across several days, while Delta said operational and maintenance issues affected the service.
Delta Lagos Flight Disruption Details
The initial disruption involved Delta’s Lagos-Atlanta operation on August 23. According to reports from affected passengers, the airline cancelled the service after a mechanical issue was identified during pre-departure checks and informed travellers that the flight would be rescheduled following maintenance.
Passengers were subsequently rebooked for August 25, but another disruption followed. A notification sent to travellers attributed the latest cancellation to crew availability constraints, adding another layer of uncertainty for passengers already affected by the first cancellation.
Flight-status data separately listed DL9895 from Lagos to Atlanta as cancelled on August 25, with the service scheduled to depart at 06:00 local time.

Delta said it regretted the inconvenience caused by the disruption and was working to re-accommodate affected customers on available flights. The airline also stressed that the safety and well-being of passengers and crew remained its highest priority.
Omeiza explained that the August 23 operation was cancelled for operational reasons, while technicians addressed a maintenance issue affecting the later service. Delta said its teams were assisting passengers and would provide further updates as the situation developed, PUNCH reported.
