PORT LOUIS– Emirates (EK) will introduce its Premium Economy cabin on two of its three daily services between Mauritius and Dubai from September 1, 2026, giving passengers more comfort and greater cabin choice on the popular route.
The new service will operate between Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) on flights EK703/704 and EK709/710.
The first pair will use an Airbus A380, while the second will be operated by a retrofitted Boeing 777, with both aircraft offering three cabin classes.
Emirates Premium Economy Flights Launch Details
The A380 assigned to EK703/704 will feature 56 Premium Economy seats alongside 76 Business Class and 437 Economy Class seats. The Boeing 777 operating EK709/710 will provide 24 Premium Economy seats, 38 Business Class seats and 214 Economy Class seats.
The introduction gives passengers travelling between Mauritius and Dubai more flexibility when selecting their preferred cabin. It also strengthens Emirates’ premium offering in a market where the airline has operated since 2002.
Oomar Ramtoola, Emirates’ Manager for the Indian Ocean Islands, said the move reflects the airline’s continued commitment to Mauritian customers and the country’s travel and tourism sector.
He added that the enhanced cabin is designed for travellers seeking additional comfort and privacy on longer journeys.
Enhanced Premium Economy Cabin Experience
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin focuses on extra space and upgraded onboard amenities without moving passengers into Business Class.
Each 19.5-inch seat features generous legroom and recline, a six-way adjustable headrest, a footrest, in-seat charging and a wood-finished side cocktail table.
Passengers will also have access to a 13.3-inch personal entertainment screen, providing a larger viewing experience during the flight. The cabin combines wider seating with dedicated features intended to make long-haul travel more comfortable.
The dining service also receives a premium treatment. Passengers can expect a welcome drink served in fine glassware, meals prepared using seasonal ingredients and service on Royal Doulton china, along with a broader beverage selection.
Wider Dubai Connections Across Global Network
The Premium Economy launch will also allow passengers from Mauritius to connect through Dubai to destinations across Emirates’ international network. The airline said customers will be able to enjoy the cabin experience through to 70 destinations in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Among the connecting destinations are selected flights to Bangkok, while all six daily Emirates services to London Heathrow will also offer Premium Economy across the journey.
This gives Mauritian travellers more opportunities to experience the upgraded cabin beyond the Dubai sector.
Additional benefits include priority boarding, sustainable amenity kits, blankets and larger pillows designed specifically for Premium Economy passengers. Travellers departing from Dubai can also use a dedicated Premium Economy check-in area at Dubai International Airport.
The deployment of the A380 and retrofitted Boeing 777 configurations forms part of Emirates’ continued investment in Mauritius.
Customers can book Premium Economy through the airline’s website, its Emirates Travel Store at The Docks 2 in Caudan or through their preferred travel agent.
