India’s budget carrier SpiceJet is ready for significant fleet restructuring after a long period by preparing to add more 737 MAX aircraft to its fleet. It is now the only operator of the MAX in India and has more than 150 of the type on order from Boeing.
Following more than 60 in-flight issues concerning the 737 MAX in the 12 months since the FAA approved the plane to fly again, including six crises, US plane builder Boeing is allegedly prepared to request an audit of its production oversight.
Boeing is currently lagging behind on several of its projects. Dreamliner deliveries have been halted on orders from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the 777X program is running years after schedule, and the 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10 aircraft are still awaiting recertification.
Akasa Air, India’s newest airline recently took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in Seattle, USA. The aircraft has now left Boeing’s facility in Seattle and has arrived in Iceland.
Akasa Air seems to have its program in place for a July launch, with its CEO confident of starting ticket sales early next month. The airline was handed over its first Boeing 737 MAX airplane recently and will soon conduct establishing flights to receive its AOC.
