ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) began operating the Delta One Suite in 2017 on long-haul routes departing major hubs such as Atlanta (ATL), marking the first time a global US carrier added closed doors to business class seats.
JetBlue Mint had doors at selected seats, but JetBlue was not flying long-haul services at that time.
Eight years after its launch, the Delta One Suite is still not available consistently across the fleet.
Passengers flying from airports including New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) continue to experience different levels of business class comfort depending on the assigned aircraft.

Delta One Suite Fleet
The following table summarizes the presence of Delta One Suites across Delta’s long-haul and premium aircraft:
| Aircraft Type | Delta One Suites Installed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Airbus A350-900 | Yes | Most spacious suite layout; 32 or 40 seats depending on configuration |
| Airbus A330-900neo | Yes | Identical interiors on all aircraft; tighter feel due to narrow fuselage |
| Airbus A330-200 | No | Older reverse-herringbone seats; no retrofit planned |
| Airbus A330-300 | No | Reverse-herringbone seats; retrofit expected from late 2026 (product not confirmed) |
| Boeing 767-400ER | No | Refreshed staggered seats; privacy partitions but still tight |
| Boeing 767-300ER | No | Outdated staggered seats; among the weakest business class products in service |
| Boeing 757-200 (flat bed subfleet) | No | Collins Diamond flat bed in 2-2 layout; 12 out of 77 aircraft |

Delta One Suite Availability by Aircraft
The Delta One Suite is based on the Vantage XL platform and offers privacy doors, direct aisle access, fully flat beds, and controlled lighting.
The staggered configuration allows airlines to increase cabin density by positioning each passenger’s footwell beside the seat in front. Although efficient, this design reduces the feeling of space for some travelers.
The suite remains Delta’s most premium cabin, but it ranks toward the lower end of the world’s top business class products due to the compact layout and reduced shoulder space.
Reported by OMAAT, it is still the best option Delta currently offers for long-haul travel.
The Airbus A350-900 was developed around the Delta One Suite concept and provides the most spacious version of the seat across the fleet.
Every A350-900 includes these suites, and the configuration offers either 32 or 40 seats depending on the aircraft.
The Airbus A330-900neo also has Delta One Suites on all aircraft, but its narrow fuselage creates a noticeably tighter sleeping and seated experience compared to the A350-900.
The Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A330-300 fleets use reverse-herringbone seats that, while fully flat, are no longer competitive with newer products.
Delta intends to begin retrofitting A330-300s in late 2026, but the expected product has not been confirmed and assumptions that they will receive Delta One Suites remain speculative. No retrofit has been announced for the A330-200.
The Boeing 767-400ER fleet uses refreshed staggered business class seats with updated finishes and privacy dividers. However, the combination of a narrow fuselage and staggered design still results in limited personal space.
The Boeing 767-300ER provides the weakest business class experience in the Delta long-haul fleet, with outdated seats, small screens, and minimal storage. Despite premium pricing on transatlantic routes, these cabins fall noticeably short of modern standards and are planned to exit international service by 2028 ahead of full retirement by 2030.
The Boeing 757-200 subfleet with flat beds features Collins Aerospace Diamond seats in a 2-2 layout. Although this layout is acceptable for a narrow-body aircraft, it does not offer the privacy or features of the Delta One Suite and is deployed only on selected premium routes.

Passenger Experience
The best business class experience on Delta is consistently found on the Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A330-900neo.
Travelers prioritizing privacy, bed width, and modern comfort should verify aircraft type during booking.
Using aircraft selection tools or seat maps helps avoid legacy business class products on the A330-200, A330-300, 767-300ER, 767-400ER, and 757-200.

Future Outlook
Progress toward a full-fleet rollout of Delta One Suites has been slow. The A330-300 retrofit timeline beginning in 2026 represents the only confirmed interior upgrade, and no other wide-body type is scheduled for a Delta One Suite conversion.
Because of this, large differences in passenger experience will remain across Delta’s business class fleet for years.
