MELBOURNE- Qantas (QF), the national carrier of Australia, is making a renewed effort to remind Australians about the approximately $400 million in travel credits that remain unused with the airline since the COVID-19 era.
The credits are set to expire on 31st December 2023, prompting the airline to encourage customers to redeem or obtain refunds before the deadline.
Qantas Credit Card and Double Points Offer
In a bid to facilitate the credit redemption process, Qantas introduced an online tool called “Find My Credit” in June. The tool assists customers in locating their bookings dating back to 2020, which were canceled due to abrupt border closures.
Additionally, Qantas offered a lucrative Double Qantas Points promotion for bookings made using travel credits before the end of this month.
Understanding the importance of a straightforward refund process, Qantas has taken steps to simplify the procedure for customers to claim their refunds before the expiration date.
As of now, over $1 billion has already been claimed across both Qantas and its subsidiary, Jetstar (JQ).
Since late June, thousands of customers have eagerly registered to avail of the Double Points promotion, which is nearing its conclusion. Moreover, over 20,000 individuals have successfully used the Find My Credit tool to retrieve their bookings.
The number of inquiries regarding refunds has doubled, indicating significant interest in claiming the remaining credits, which amount to hundreds of millions of dollars.
To ensure the message reaches as many customers as possible, Qantas has launched an advertising campaign across various platforms, including radio and full-page newspaper ads.
Regular emails are also being sent out to remind those holding credits about their options for redemption or refunds.
Chief Customer Officer’s Encouragement
Markus Svensson, the Chief Customer Officer of the Qantas Group, is enthusiastic about the response received so far and urges people to take advantage of the Double Points offer and plan a holiday.
He emphasized that many of the credits are several years old and range from $100 to $500, making them easy to overlook.
Hence, the airline is committed to proactively reaching out to customers to ensure they do not miss the opportunity to redeem their credits before the year-end deadline.
Qantas has established a dedicated Travel Credits Concierge Team to assist customers further, reachable at 1300 171 505.
Claiming Double Points and Booking Period
Customers can claim the Double Points offer by registering on qantas.com/doubleqantaspoints and booking an eligible flight with a QF flight number before 31st July 2023. The Double Points will be awarded eight weeks after the completion of travel.
Moreover, trips booked before the end of December can be scheduled until December 2024, giving travelers ample time to plan their future journeys.
As Qantas strives to ensure that its customers make the most of their COVID-era travel credits, the airline is optimistic that this concerted effort will lead to further credit redemptions and enhance customer satisfaction during these challenging times.
