An American Airlines flight from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport made an overnight emergency landing in Grand Rapids, Michigan due to a “potential mechanical problem”.
The airline said Fox Business in an emailed report Saturday that the plane departed the airport at around 8:30 p.m. CDT and landed safely and without incident shortly after 10:30 p.m. EDT.

There were 149 passengers and six crew members on board the flight, which was bound for Buffalo, New York.

According to Grand Rapids Press, Grand Rapids Airport’s director of public safety and operations Lisa Carr said in a statement that the plane had alerted Gerald R. Ford International Airport to potential smoke in the cockpit.
