Tens of thousands who planned to fly this summer from Heathrow and Gatwick will be impacted by the wave of cancellations that occurred over the past few weeks.

British Airways staff at Heathrow who are members of Unite and the GMB union have voted to go on strike this summer over failed pay negotiations. The dates of the walkout have yet to be approved but are to take place during the peak period of school summer holidays and will affect mostly customer-facing roles, such as check-in.

British Airways has taken off from London Heathrow to Portland, two years and two days later than it had previously anticipate.

The UK flag carrier will use the four A321 and two Boeing 757 aircraft to ease the ability of its overstretched short-haul services.
