FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) launched 4 new nonstop routes for its Summer 2026 schedule, expanding travel options between the United States and Europe.
The airline added new services from Philadelphia and Dallas Fort Worth, strengthening its international network and increasing access during a record summer travel season.
American Airlines introduced new nonstop routes connecting Philadelphia with Budapest (BUD) and Prague (PRG), along with Dallas (DFW) services to Athens (ATH) and Zurich (ZRH).
The expansion supports up to 70 daily flights between the United States and Europe during the airline’s centennial summer season.

American Airlines Launches 4 New Europe Routes
American Airlines (AA) launched 4 new nonstop Europe routes to strengthen transatlantic connectivity and provide more direct travel choices for passengers.
The new services improve access to key European destinations and add Budapest and Prague as completely new destinations within the airline’s global network.
The newly introduced routes include:
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Budapest (BUD)
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Prague (PRG)
- Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Athens (ATH)
- Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Zurich (ZRH)
American Airlines operates daily seasonal flights from Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Flights between Dallas Fort Worth and Athens, along with Dallas Fort Worth and Zurich, operate using a mix of Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
The route expansion coincides with the beginning of American Airlines’ record-breaking Summer 2026 schedule.
The airline expects to serve approximately 75 million passengers across 750,000 flights during its centennial summer period.

Philadelphia Strengthens Transatlantic Position
Philadelphia International Airport entered Summer 2026 with a redesigned operating schedule created to improve airport flow and strengthen passenger connections.
The updated schedule marks the first peak summer travel season under the redesigned Philadelphia structure.
American Airlines increased coordinated daily arrival and departure periods, known as flight banks, from 6 to 7.
The updated scheduling structure spreads flights more evenly throughout the day and improves movement across multiple airport operations, including:
- Parking facilities
- Check-in areas
- Security checkpoints
- Terminal movement
- Passenger transfers
Early results from the revised schedule show operational improvements in several areas:

Philadelphia International Airport currently provides nonstop access to more than 120 destinations worldwide, including 19 transatlantic destinations.

The Philadelphia operation continues to serve as a major gateway to Europe while supporting large international passenger volumes during major events hosted in the region.

Fort Worth Reinforces Global Hub Operations
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport remains American Airlines’ largest and most connected hub and plays a significant role across the airline’s global network.
The airport recently implemented a redesigned 13-bank schedule structure that distributes more than 930 peak daily departures more evenly throughout operating hours.
The revised scheduling system has already produced measurable operational benefits, including:
- Reduced delays
- Improved customer connections
- Lower gate change frequency
- Stronger baggage handling performance
- Higher customer satisfaction levels
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport currently provides access to more than 230 nonstop destinations across the airline’s network.
The addition of Athens and Zurich services further expands international connectivity and strengthens the role of Dallas Fort Worth as a major connection point for global travel.

Additional European Network Expansion
American Airlines also expanded international travel options from other hubs within its network.
Recent route additions include:
- Miami International Airport (MIA) to Milan Malpensa Airport, Milan (MXP)
- John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Edinburgh Airport, Scotland (EDI)
These services further increase travel options between the United States and Europe.

Redesigned Mobile Application
The airline’s updated mobile application now includes expanded self-service functions that allow passengers to:

- Use expanded digital wallet integration without opening the application
TSA PreCheck Touchless ID
American Airlines expanded access to TSA PreCheck Touchless ID across 60 participating airports, including all major airline hubs.
The optional program provides a faster identity verification process and reduces physical document handling at security checkpoints.
