DENVER- Frontier Airlines (F9) will launch its first-ever service to South America with nonstop flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Bogotá (BOG), Medellín (MDE), and Cartagena (CTG) in December 2026.
The new routes will expand affordable travel between Central Florida and Colombia, with introductory fares starting at $99 and service frequencies ranging from weekly to daily.
Frontier Airlines Opens Its First Colombia Routes
Frontier Airlines (F9) will begin its first-ever scheduled service to South America in December 2026, linking Orlando International Airport (MCO) with 3 destinations in Colombia.
The new routes will serve El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá (BOG), José María Córdova International Airport in Medellín (MDE), and Rafael Núñez International Airport in Cartagena (CTG).
The expansion represents a significant step in Frontier’s international growth strategy and adds three Colombian destinations to its network from Orlando. The airline said it sees strong unmet demand for low-cost travel between Orlando and Colombia.
To mark the launch, Frontier is offering introductory fares starting at $99, subject to the applicable fare rules and availability.

Frontier stated that the new services are subject to government approval. Flight frequencies and operating times may also change, so travelers should verify the latest schedule and fare information with Frontier before booking.
Medellín service is scheduled to begin first, on December 10, 2026, with daily flights. Bogotá service will follow on December 14, initially operating 6 times per week before increasing to daily service on March 6, 2027. Cartagena service is scheduled to begin on December 19 with one flight per week.
Demand Between Orlando and Colombia
Tyri Squyres, Frontier Airlines’ vice president of public and consumer affairs, described the Colombia launch as an important milestone for the airline.
She said Frontier believes a strong, unmet market exists for low-cost travel between Orlando and Colombia and that the new flights will provide more affordable options for travelers.
The expansion also received support from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which operates Orlando International Airport.
Lance Lyttle, the authority’s chief executive officer, said the new nonstop services will expand traveler choice, strengthen Orlando’s connectivity with Colombia, and reflect demand for affordable international travel between Central Florida and South America.
The new services give Orlando travelers direct access to Colombia’s capital as well as Medellín and Cartagena without requiring a connecting flight through another gateway.
New Routes Arrive
The Colombia expansion comes as Frontier continues to introduce changes under its “The New Frontier” initiative.
The airline has made several updates to its seating, loyalty, and customer offerings while continuing to position itself around affordable air travel.
UpFront Plus Adds More Space
UpFront Plus is Frontier’s upgraded seating option in the first 2 rows of the aircraft. The product provides additional legroom and elbow room, along with a guaranteed empty middle seat.
Customers purchasing UpFront Plus receive a window or aisle seat, giving them additional personal space compared with standard seating options.
Frontier Plans First Class Seating
Frontier is also introducing First Class seating in 2026. The new option is designed to provide greater comfort and space while maintaining the airline’s focus on affordable pricing.
The introduction adds a higher-tier seating product to Frontier’s existing range of options and forms part of the broader changes associated with its “The New Frontier” strategy.
Unlimited Companion Travel Expands Loyalty Benefits
Frontier has also introduced unlimited companion travel for its most loyal customers. Eligible members can choose a different companion for every Frontier flight, adding flexibility to the benefit.
The change broadens the value of Frontier’s loyalty offering for frequent travelers who regularly fly with different companions.
Frontier Miles Strengthens Frequent Flyer Program
Frontier Miles remains a key part of the airline’s loyalty strategy. Members can earn miles and points through spending on Frontier products and receive rewards based on their eligible purchases.
For 2026, Frontier has set Elite status at 10,000 points. Depending on the member’s status level, benefits include priority boarding and free baggage allowances.
The program also includes family pooling for Elite members. This feature allows qualifying families to pool miles, making it easier to use accumulated rewards together. Membership in Frontier Miles is free.
Colombia Expansion
The three new routes will give travelers from Central Florida direct access to Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena. The network expansion provides another option for passengers traveling between Orlando and Colombia, particularly those seeking lower-cost international fares.
The introductory pricing varies by destination. Bogotá has the lowest advertised introductory fare at $99, followed by Cartagena at $129 and Medellín at $169.
The new flights also increase the range of international destinations available directly from Orlando International Airport. Their addition strengthens the airport’s Colombia connectivity while giving Frontier a new South American market.
The expansion is part of Frontier’s broader international growth and evolving airline strategy.
Colombia Service Launch Timeline
The new Frontier schedule begins with Medellín on December 10, 2026. Bogotá follows on December 14, 2026, and Cartagena launches on December 19, 2026.
Bogotá service will initially operate six times per week and is scheduled to become daily on March 6, 2027. Medellín will operate daily from launch, while Cartagena will begin with one weekly flight.
