DUBAI- Authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have warned travelers not to take photos or videos inside Dubai International Airport (DXB), citing potential legal consequences, including fines, imprisonment, and deportation.
The advisory comes after a security incident near the airport disrupted operations for several hours and raised concerns about passengers sharing footage from inside the facility, including areas used by Emirates (EK) at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

UAE Issues Warning After Incident Near Dubai Airport
Officials in the United Arab Emirates have issued strict warnings against filming or photographing inside Dubai International Airport following a recent drone-related security incident.
According to authorities, sharing images or videos that show incident sites, damage, or defensive actions could violate national laws. The UAE’s Attorney General stated that publishing such content may constitute behavior that contradicts public order regulations and could lead to criminal prosecution.
The warning specifically covers videos showing arrivals, departures, or any activity related to the incident at Dubai International Airport. Travelers who ignore the advisory risk penalties may face large fines, detention, or deportation from the country.

Drone Incident Triggered Heightened Restrictions
The warning followed an incident in which an Iranian Shahed-136 one-way attack drone approached Dubai International Airport and was reportedly intercepted at low altitude near Terminal 3.
The interception occurred close to Concourse A, a major hub used by Emirates (EK). The airport briefly suspended operations as a precaution while the UAE armed forces responded to what appeared to be a coordinated aerial threat.
During the disruption, aircraft preparing for departure were evacuated from taxiways, and passengers inside terminals were instructed to remain in place. Incoming flights were diverted to nearby airports, including Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), Al Ain International Airport (AAN), and Muscat International Airport (MCT).
Operations resumed later the same day, although airlines continued monitoring the security situation.

Government Messaging and Public Information Controls
Early reports about the incident circulated widely on social media, including videos showing smoke rising near the airport perimeter and footage of a drone exploding close to an aircraft.
The Dubai Media Office initially dismissed reports of an incident before videos began spreading online. The footage quickly gained attention and prompted renewed warnings from authorities about sharing unofficial content related to security events.
Dr. Hamed Saif Al Shamsi, the UAE’s state attorney, warned that distributing images or videos of incident locations, projectile debris, or damage could create panic among residents and misrepresent the country’s security situation.
According to PYOK, the government has intensified messaging around social media use during security incidents as the UAE continues to intercept incoming aerial threats.

Diplomatic Advisory to Foreign Nationals
Foreign governments have also begun warning their citizens to follow the new guidance while traveling through Dubai.
India’s Embassy in the UAE issued an advisory urging travelers to avoid filming or photographing inside the airport during arrival or departure. The embassy also warned against sharing images of any damage or security activity on social media.
The advisory stressed that compliance is necessary to avoid legal consequences under UAE law.

Airlines Monitoring the Situation
Dubai-based Emirates (EK) had recently indicated plans to restore its network to full capacity after the UAE reopened airspace using designated safe corridors.
However, the airline confirmed it is continuing to monitor the security situation and will adjust operations if required.
While Dubai International Airport remains open and operational, authorities have made it clear that passengers must follow strict rules regarding photography and video recording within the airport.
