DUBAI, UAE- Dubai International Airport (DXB) temporarily suspended flight operations after an aerial interception during missile and drone attacks originating from Iran. Authorities halted movements to protect passengers, airline crews, and airport staff.
The disruption affected Emirates (EK) flights and operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB), while services were later partially resumed at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

Missile Intercepted Near Dubai Airport Terminals
Dubai International Airport (DXB) briefly halted operations after debris from an intercepted aerial threat fell near one of the airport terminals. Witnesses reported a loud explosion followed by a large plume of smoke rising close to the terminal area.
The Dubai Media Office confirmed the suspension in an official statement. Authorities said the decision was taken strictly as a precaution to ensure the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and airline crews.
Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed several aircraft circling above the airport before the suspension. These aircraft entered holding patterns as the airport temporarily stopped arrivals and departures.

Emirates Halts Flights During Security Incident
Emirates (EK), the largest airline in the Middle East and the main carrier at Dubai International Airport (DXB), announced a suspension of all flights to and from Dubai during the incident.
The airline issued a public advisory asking passengers not to travel to the airport until further notice. The instruction aimed to prevent congestion and confusion while operations remained paused.
The suspension disrupted several scheduled flights across Emirates’ global network, as the airline uses Dubai International Airport (DXB) as its primary hub.

UAE Confirms Debris From Interception
The Dubai government later clarified that the disruption resulted from a minor incident caused by falling debris following an aerial interception. Officials stated that the incident caused no injuries.
Authorities also denied some reports circulating on social media that suggested a larger security breach at the airport. Officials did not provide further details about the intercepted object.
Regional Missile and Drone Threats
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that the country’s air defense systems were responding to missile and drone threats originating from Iran. The ministry did not specify the intended targets of the attacks.
The interception near Dubai International Airport (DXB) occurred amid heightened regional tensions following earlier strikes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Recent attacks linked to the conflict have affected several locations in Dubai. Iranian strikes reportedly hit areas near Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Al Arab, while drone debris caused a fire at the US consulate earlier in the week.
Partial Resumption of Airport Operations
Dubai Airports later announced a partial resumption of operations on 7 March. Limited flights resumed at both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).
Authorities advised passengers not to travel to the airport unless their airline confirmed the flight schedule. Flight timings continued to change as airlines worked to stabilize operations.
Airport officials emphasized that safety measures remain the top priority while monitoring the regional security situation.

US-Israel-Iran War Updates
Israel and Iran continued exchanging missile and drone strikes as the Middle East conflict entered its second week. Air defence systems across several countries intercepted projectiles while civilian casualties continued to rise.
Regional tensions widened as attacks and interceptions were reported in Israel, Iran, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon. Military activity near major airports and urban centres highlighted the growing risk to civilian infrastructure.
Escalating Military Exchanges Across the Region
The conflict between Israel and Iran intensified overnight, with both sides continuing large-scale strikes. Israel’s military reported ongoing bombing operations targeting multiple locations across Iran and Lebanon.
In Iran, residents described another night of heavy bombardment. Witnesses reported fires and explosions near Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, indicating that critical infrastructure may have been affected during Israeli strikes.
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded in major cities including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that its air defence systems were intercepting missiles launched from Iran.
The continued exchange of attacks shows no immediate sign of de escalation as military operations from both sides remain active across several fronts.

Missile and Drone Interceptions in Gulf States
Countries across the Gulf region reported intercepting missiles and drones linked to the expanding conflict.
The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defence systems detected 16 ballistic missiles and 121 drones during the latest wave of attacks. Fifteen missiles were intercepted, while one fell into the sea. Out of the drones detected, 119 were intercepted, and two landed within UAE territory.
Authorities reported three deaths and 112 minor injuries from drone attacks during the week-long conflict.
Ballistic missiles are long range rocket powered weapons that can cost millions of dollars to produce. In contrast, drones or unmanned aerial vehicles are slower, propeller-driven aircraft that are significantly cheaper to manufacture and are often used in large numbers.
Qatar’s defence ministry also confirmed intercepting a missile attack during the same period.
Drone Impact Reported Near Dubai International Airport
Footage circulating on social media appeared to show a drone impact near Dubai International Airport. The video shows an explosion close to a terminal building after an object was seen approaching the ground.
The footage was recorded from an industrial area south of the airport and captured a brief view of an object descending before the explosion. A distinct engine sound associated with drone propulsion was audible before the impact.
The location of the explosion appeared to be near Concourse A, close to a train line and a commercial building. Several aircraft were visible parked nearby on the airport apron at the time of the incident.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the explosion was caused by an intercepted drone or a direct strike.
Airport operations were temporarily disrupted earlier in the day. Emirates Airline initially announced a suspension of flights before later confirming that services had partially resumed.

Civilian Casualties Continue to Rise
Humanitarian concerns are growing as casualty figures increase across multiple countries involved in the conflict.
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations reported that at least 1,332 civilians have been killed in strikes across the country.
Lebanon’s health ministry stated that Israeli strikes have killed at least 217 people.
In Israel, first responders reported that at least 10 people have died since the conflict escalated.
These figures highlight the growing civilian toll as attacks extend beyond military installations into populated areas.
Iran Signals Limited Restraint Toward Neighbours
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian released a video message apologising to neighbouring countries affected by the conflict. He stated that Iran would not attack neighbouring states unless attacks originated from those countries.
Despite the statement, missile interceptions were reported in Qatar around the same time the message was broadcast.
Iranian officials have suggested that some military actions are being carried out under a decentralised command structure. However, Iranian leadership has warned that attacks launched from US military bases in the region could become targets.
The president’s statement appears aimed at easing tensions with Arab states that recently improved diplomatic relations with Iran.

US Signals Potential Expansion of Military Action
US President Donald Trump commented on the situation through a message posted on Truth Social. He claimed that Iran had apologised to neighbouring countries due to pressure from the US and Israeli military operations.
Trump warned that Iran could face additional strikes and stated that new targets were under consideration.
His remarks suggested that further military escalation remains possible if the conflict continues.
