SINGAPORE- Air Cambodia (K6) confirmed an order for up to 20 Boeing 737 MAX jets, marking its largest single-aisle aircraft purchase to support regional expansion.
The carrier will use the new aircraft to expand services across Asia through its main hub at Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH).

Air Cambodia Orders Boeing 737 MAX Jets
Boeing and Air Cambodia announced the agreement at the Singapore Airshow, marking the Cambodian airline’s first direct purchase of Boeing aircraft. The deal includes a firm order for 10 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with options for 10 additional jets finalized in December 2025.
The order enables the airline to modernize its fleet and meet rising regional travel demand. Southeast Asia continues to see rapid growth in tourism and business travel, creating strong demand for efficient narrowbody aircraft.
Air Cambodia plans to deploy the 737-8 on high-demand regional routes across North and Southeast Asia, supporting direct connections and competitive fares while strengthening tourism and trade links.

Fleet Modernization and Network Expansion
Air Cambodia currently operates six aircraft serving domestic and regional destinations, including Vietnam, Thailand, China, India, Japan, and Hong Kong.
The new aircraft will allow the airline to:
- Launch new direct routes across Asia
- Increase seat capacity on popular sectors
- Reduce operating costs
- Improve passenger comfort and onboard experience
- Create jobs and aviation training opportunities in Cambodia
The investment aligns with Cambodia’s broader aviation growth and tourism development goals.

Boeing 737-8 Operational Advantages
The Boeing 737-8 is designed for medium-haul routes and supports airline growth through improved efficiency.
Key aircraft features include:
- Capacity for up to 178 passengers in two classes
- Range of up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km)
- Around 20% lower fuel consumption compared to older aircraft
- Reduced emissions and operating costs
- Improved cabin comfort and reliability
These advantages make the aircraft suitable for expanding regional networks while keeping operational costs competitive.

Southeast Asia Aviation Demand Outlook
Boeing forecasts that Southeast Asian airlines will require nearly 5,000 new aircraft over the next two decades, with more than 80% expected to be single-aisle jets.
Air Cambodia’s order positions the airline to benefit from this long-term regional growth, while strengthening Cambodia’s role in Asian air connectivity.
