DUBAI- Emirates (EK) will temporarily replace the Airbus A380 on flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) during October 2026. The change affects aircraft type, not the route itself.
The A380 will operate to Amsterdam through September 30 before leaving the route for October. Emirates plans to return the A380 on November 1, with two daily A380 services scheduled for the winter 2026/2027 period.
Emirates Removes A380 From Amsterdam In October
Airlines regularly submit schedule updates to systems such as Cirium Diio and OAG. These changes can include new routes, eliminated markets, frequency adjustments, different operating periods and aircraft changes.
Emirates has now removed the Airbus A380 from its Dubai-Amsterdam schedule for October 2026. The carrier currently operates the A380 daily to Amsterdam and had planned to continue using the aircraft through the rest of 2026.
The A380 will operate to Amsterdam through September 30, be redeployed elsewhere in October and return on November 1.
The aircraft originally scheduled for Amsterdam is Emirates’ three-class, First Class-equipped, 517-seat A380. It is not the airline’s 615-seat A380 configuration.
During October, Emirates will use a three-class, First Class-equipped Boeing 777-300ER with 360 seats instead. Premium Economy is not currently available on the Amsterdam route.
The A380 will be redeployed elsewhere during October, but not to Beijing Capital or Osaka Kansai, where other A380 configurations will be used.
October Capacity Falls By Almost 14%
The aircraft substitution reduces the number of seats available between Dubai and Amsterdam.
Until the latest schedule update, Emirates planned 70,202 round-trip seats on the route in October. The revised schedule provides 60,468 seats, a decline of almost 14%.
Business Class capacity falls by 23%, while First Class capacity decreases by 22%. Economy Class capacity falls by 12%, although that reduction comes from a much larger seat base.
More than 7,300 Economy seats have been removed from the October schedule.

EK147/EK148 had been scheduled to operate with the A380 but will use the Boeing 777-300ER during October.
Two Daily A380 Services Return
The A380 is scheduled to return to Amsterdam on November 1, 2026.
During winter 2026/2027, Emirates will operate two daily A380 services to Amsterdam. EK147/EK148 and EK149/EK150 will use the A380, while EK145/EK146 will remain scheduled with the Boeing 777-300ER.

Emirates also operated 2 daily A380 flights to Amsterdam last winter. The aircraft was used twice daily on the route throughout 2025.
Emirates A380 Operations On Amsterdam Route
Emirates had 730 A380 departures available between Dubai and Amsterdam in 2025, the highest number since 2019.
The number falls to 466 planned A380 departures in 2026, a decline of 36%. The source material attributes part of that decline to the ongoing war in Iran.
Despite the reduction, 466 planned departures in 2026 represent the sixth-highest annual total since Emirates first used the A380 on the Dubai-Amsterdam route in 2012.
Emirates’ Busiest European A380 Markets
From November 2026 through February 2027, Emirates will have two daily A380 departures to Amsterdam.
That makes Amsterdam a joint-fourth most-served European airport in Emirates’ A380 schedule for the period.
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) leads with six daily A380 departures. Manchester Airport (MAN) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) each have three daily A380 departures throughout the period.
London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is scheduled for three daily A380 flights, but the aircraft is not due to return there until December 1.
Amsterdam, Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME), Munich Airport (MUC) and Zurich Airport (ZRH) each have two daily A380 departures.
One of Milan’s A380 services will continue to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

What Passengers Can Expect
Passengers flying between Dubai and Amsterdam during October 2026 will see Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on services that had been scheduled with the A380.
The replacement reduces total October capacity from 70,202 to 60,468 round-trip seats. Business Class capacity falls by 23%, First Class by 22% and Economy Class by 12%.
From November 1, Emirates is scheduled to restore two daily A380 services on EK147/EK148 and EK149/EK150.
