FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) will ramp up its operation at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this spring, adding 100 new peak daily departures across more than 75 destinations.
This marks the airline’s largest spring schedule ever at Chicago (ORD), lifting peak daily flights to more than 500 and strengthening its position as one of the leading hub carriers in the United States.

American Airlines Adds More Flights from Chicago
American Airlines is building strongly on its Chicago hub strategy with a focused expansion built around frequency, connectivity, and reliability.
The larger schedule allows travelers in Chicago and connecting markets to choose from more flights to top leisure and business destinations across the network.
Key markets receiving added service include Boston (BOS), Cincinnati (CVG), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Fort Myers (RSW), and Orlando (MCO). Service to Las Vegas (LAS), Panama City (ECP), Sarasota (SRQ), Savannah (SAV), and San Francisco (SFO) also increases significantly for the spring season.
Reaching more than 500 daily departures puts Chicago O’Hare (ORD) among the largest hubs in American’s global network. It also reflects continued investment in the Midwest region and sustained growth in both domestic and international connectivity.
The airline will extend its seasonal summer flights from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Dublin (DUB) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). Dublin flights will operate about one month longer than usual, and Paris flights will run three months longer. These services complement American’s wider international network and partnerships across Europe.

Building on Recent Expansion
American Airlines launched a major capacity increase at Chicago O’Hare (ORD) beginning in summer 2025, adding 20% more flights and 22% more seats compared to the prior year. Since then, new destinations have joined the schedule, including Honolulu (HNL), Mexico City (MEX), Madrid (MAD), and the only nonstop service from Chicago to Naples, Italy (NAP).
The airline has also boosted service to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America and added more frequency on business-focused routes such as Seattle (SEA), Houston (IAH), and Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA).
Hub airports connect communities by allowing one-stop travel to a large global network. Americans’ investment at Chicago O’Hare brings economic value to the region and provides more access for travelers from smaller cities such as Cedar Rapids (CID), Bloomington (BMI), and Flint (FNT).
Competition among hub airlines at ORD also helps maintain fare choice and flexibility for customers.

Customer Experience and Operational Reliability
The expansion aligns with American’s broader customer-focused strategy at Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Enhancements include technology upgrades, a redesigned app, more premium seating across the regional fleet, and improved boarding and baggage processes.
American also reports strong AAdvantage enrollment growth in the Chicago market and improved on-time performance year over year.
New gates at Chicago O’Hare have enabled the airline to introduce new destinations and increase aircraft size across many routes. American now operates dual-class regional jets on all ORD flights, making premium seating available systemwide from the airport.
