At Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, a section of the perimeter wall collapsed on Sunday, raising security questions.
IANS cited officials as saying that the section, which had a height of up to 15 feet, was close to gate number 27 and had collapsed at around 6.30 pm.
Mumbai International Airport buildings adjacent to the airport are being blamed for construction and maintenance projects.

The CISF and CSMIA Airside Security were alerted to the event as soon as it was discovered, and more security personnel were sent to the area. An official added that safety barricades had been put up to safeguard the perimeter and fence off the damaged area while an investigation was being conducted.
A spokesperson for the Mumbai Airport provided a detailed statement, stating that “On Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 18:32 hrs., a portion of the perimeter wall of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) near Gate 27 collapsed due to ongoing construction & maintenance work on the city-side, adjoining the wall.”
“The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and CSMIA Airside Security were notified of the event as soon as it was reported. Safety barricades were swiftly put up to fence off the affected area and safeguard the perimeter. Further, more guards were quickly dispatched to the area as a precaution,” it continued.

Nothing about airport operations or services was interfered with, the statement said. Furthermore, there were no reported accidents or casualties.
