DUBAI- Emirates (EK) allows Skywards members to book a single award ticket that pairs two different first class products through Dubai (DXB). One segment can be flown in the Boeing 777 “Game Changer” suite, and the other in the Airbus A380 first class cabin with a shower and onboard bar.
A Brussels (BRU) to Dubai (DXB) flight in the Game Changer suite costs 120,000 miles one way, and adding a connection to Singapore (SIN) or Mauritius (MRU) in A380 first class costs only 43,000 more miles. If the routing requires an overnight in Dubai, Emirates covers the hotel, making one award deliver two suites, a shower, and a free stay.

Emirates Combining Two First Class Products On One Award
Emirates Skywards allows a one-way itinerary through Dubai where the two long segments use different first class products. Booking two flights is the most effective way to experience both the 777 Game Changer seat and the A380 shower suite on a single ticket.
A single long first class flight may suit most travelers, but it cannot connect the same two cities non-stop on Emirates while also collecting both products.
The award cost includes points plus surcharges, and those surcharges vary widely by destination. Hong Kong (HKG) surcharges are generally low compared with other Asian destinations.

Free Dubai Hotel Through Dubai Connect
Dubai Connect applies to award tickets when a passenger redeems Emirates miles. The connection must last at least six hours and no more than 26 hours, and the booking must use the shortest available connection to qualify.
Emirates may place travelers at the Copthorne Hotel Dubai, Le Méridien Airport Hotel Dubai, the JW Marriott Marquis, or another property.
Status And Age Requirements
Booking Emirates first class awards with Skywards miles requires at least Silver status in the program. First Class Classic Rewards also require each passenger to be at least nine years old. These same conditions apply to first class upgrades.

Earning Status Through The Emirates Credit Card
Travelers can gain status through an Emirates credit card issued by Barclays. The $99 annual fee card includes a year of Silver status, while the $499 Premium Mastercard grants Gold status in the first year.
The initial bonus offer often justifies the card in year one, and Emirates also offers status matches and challenges.
Transfer Partner Devaluations
Many programs have reduced the value of Emirates transfers, since Emirates limits award access to its premium cabins even while selling its miles. The current landscape includes:
- Chase dropped Emirates as a transfer partner.
- American Express Membership Rewards transfers at 1,000: 800.
- Capital One transfers at 1,000: 750.
- Citi ThankYou transfers at 1,000: 800 for Strata Premier and Elite customers.
- Bilt Rewards remains 1:1.
Business To First Class Upgrades
Upgrading a Skywards business class award can be a stronger strategy than booking first class outright. Passengers can upgrade to first class at the airport on the day of departure, and even onboard if a last-minute no-show frees a seat.
There are no capacity controls at check-in, so every empty first class seat becomes available for upgrade. This route still requires Silver status or higher and passengers aged nine or older, View from the Wing reported.

A Cheaper Cash Option On Fifth Freedom Flights
Travelers who only want to sample Emirates first class can use short fifth freedom flights paid with cash.
A Bangkok (BKK) to Hong Kong (HKG) flight in Airbus A380 first class costs less than $1,000 and runs about three hours, which is long enough for a shower, a visit to the bar, a caviar sampler, and premium wine and spirits.
On such a short flight, passengers should board early, tell the crew immediately that they want a shower, and take the first slot. Full caviar service still applies, though the Bulgari amenity kit may not be included.

Booking Emirates First Class Through Qantas
Qantas allows Classic Flight Rewards on Emirates and can access first class, but its own members need Silver status or higher to redeem for first. Qantas uses a separate and more expensive Emirates award chart that took effect March 31.
Choosing Between The A380 And The Game Changer
The A380 stands out for its shower access, while the Game Changer stands out for the seat itself, which features a six-seat layout with floor-to-ceiling doors. Both cabins deliver strong food and soft goods. Aircraft swaps remain a risk, so travelers should confirm the layout before flying.
