DUBAI- Emirates Airline (EK) has revised flight schedules to and from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) as a winter storm disrupts travel across the United States.
The airline Emirates confirmed that several flights serving New York City (JFK, EWR) were either cancelled or rescheduled due to heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and expected operational constraints linked to the severe weather system.

Emirates Cancels and Reschedules New York Flights
Emirates operated some services earlier than planned on December 26 to reduce disruption.
- Flight EK202 from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Dubai departed at 18:00 instead of 23:00, arriving in Dubai on December 27 at 15:25.
- Flight EK206 from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Milan and onward to Dubai also departed ahead of schedule at 19:30 instead of 22:20, arriving in Milan at 09:05 on December 27.
The airline confirmed cancellations for flights serving Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) via Athens.
- Flight EK209 operated from Dubai to Athens, but the onward Athens to Newark sector did not operate.
- Flight EK210 from Newark to Athens was cancelled, though the Athens to Dubai service continued as scheduled.

Passengers affected by the changes have been advised to contact their travel agent or the airline directly for rebooking support and travel assistance, Gulf News reported.
Emirates requested all passengers flying from New York to check their flight status regularly and ensure contact information is updated in Manage Your Booking to receive alerts.
Airports and airlines across the region are also urging travellers to confirm schedules before leaving for the airport, as delays and last-minute changes remain likely.

Widespread Disruption Across The United States
The winter storm has caused major disruption during the busy holiday travel period. As of Friday night, more than 1,600 flights were cancelled, and over 7,400 were delayed across the United States, according to FlightAware.
New York airports, including JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia, ranked among the most affected, accounting for a large share of total cancellations. Airports in Boston, Chicago, and Toronto also experienced significant operational challenges.
The US National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning forecasting up to 9 inches of snow across New York and southern Connecticut. New York City expected its heaviest snowfall in four years, with up to 10 inches predicted in some areas.
Officials warned that falling temperatures and Arctic winds would increase the risk on roads and runways, prolonging hazardous travel conditions into the weekend.
US airlines, including Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Republic Airways, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines, cancelled hundreds of flights. Operators continue to prioritise safety and operational stability while the weather system moves through the region.
State and city authorities across the Northeast advised residents to avoid non-essential travel. Road crews remain on standby to support snow clearance and emergency response.
