GURUGRAM- Tata-owned Air India Group (AI) has announced the launch of Fly High, the cadet program for pilots. The Gurugram-based carrier will provide CPL ground training at its own state-of-the-art facility.
With the launch of Fly High, Air India becomes the third Indian carrier to launch a cadet program after IndiGo (6E) and SpiceJet (SG).
Fly High: Air India Cadet Program
Air India is establishing its own Training Academy in Gurgaon, India, dedicated to providing training for pilots, cabin crew, ground staff, security personnel, and engineers. The airline has also formed partnerships with leading flying schools worldwide.
The Air India Training Academy collaborates with global original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to deliver top-notch training support and develop a customized curriculum aligned with Air India’s standards.
Equipped with simulators for pilot training across the Air India fleet, the Training Academy will offer type ratings to Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders enrolled in the Air India Cadet Pilot Programme, tailored to meet Air India’s fleet requirements.
For aviation training, the airline has formed partnerships with two international schools: AeroGuard Flight Training Center (located in Phoenix, Chandler, and Austin) and L3Harris Group (operating in the US and UK).
Eligibility Criteria for the Air India Cadet Program:
- Citizenship requirement: Must be a citizen of India.
- Age Eligibility: Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years old.
- Language proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Health criteria: Candidates should be in good physical and mental health.
- Height requirement: A minimum height of 158 cm is necessary.
- Medical test: Candidates must successfully clear a medical test (DGCA Class 1 Medical) before commencing flight training.
- Educational Qualifications: High School Education Certificate (National Institute of Open Schooling is also accepted) with a minimum of 60% in 10+2, including 60% marks in each of the following subjects: English, Mathematics, and Physics.

Steps for Joining the Air India Cadet Program
First of all, you will need to read all eligibility criteria and fill out an online application form. After that, there are two rounds: Technical and non-technical.
Technical Evaluation: During this phase, the airline assesses your critical thinking, numerical reasoning skills, ability to perform under pressure, motor skills, and spatial awareness. Your performance in this stage serves as a decisive factor for advancing to the subsequent evaluation phase.
In Non-Technical Evaluation: They will check your capability to collaborate effectively, thrive in group dynamics, and stand out in a series of panel and group interviews.
Upon successfully clearing all assessments, you will have the chance to join the Air India Cadet Pilot program, bringing you one step closer to realizing your dreams.
