While travelling from Mumbai to Durgapur in West Bengal, SpiceJet flight SG-945, a Boeing 737, encountered significant turbulence, injuring 13 passengers.
A video of the plane has now appeared online, illustrating the extent of the plane’s destruction within the cabin.
The video, which was purportedly filmed by one of the passengers, shows the damage to the roof panels, which were reportedly ripped off during the incident. In addition, oxygen masks were visible hanging from the ceiling, and many storage compartments were left uncovered in the footage.
SpiceJet flight SG-945, a Boeing B737 aircraft, received quick medical care upon arrival in Durgapur, and the company stated that it is “offering all possible medical help to the injured.”
Passengers were injured, according to sources, when cabin baggage fell on many of them, causing head injuries in a number of passengers. The jet, however, made a safe landing at Durgapur Airport. The injured passengers were taken to the hospital as soon as possible. An injured passenger, Akbar Ansari, told ANI that the mid-air turbulence was caused by exceptionally bad weather.
“The plane was ready to land at Durgapur airport when it began to wobble due to significant turbulence caused by severe weather. During this massive mid-air turbulence, a few passengers were gravely hurt “According to Ansari.
SpiceJet issued a statement expressing their apologies.
