Air India cancelled its Delhi-Moscow route on Thursday, citing concerns that its flight insurance could not be valid in Russian airspace amid Russia’s escalating assault of Ukraine, according to reports.
Companies operating in western countries are the most common providers of flight insurance.
After Russia launched a war against Ukraine on February 24, Western countries prohibited all Russian airlines from flying in their airspace.
Air India, on the other hand, has been flying twice a week between Delhi and Moscow. India has not prohibited Russian airlines from flying within its airspace.
According to the reports, Air India’s Delhi-Moscow flight, which was due to take off on Thursday, has been cancelled.
PTI requested a statement from Air India, but they did not respond.
