WASHINGTON- American Express is preparing to tighten its Resy dining credit program from August 1, 2026, across select premium cards in the United States. The update introduces stricter eligibility rules tied directly to participating restaurants listed within the Resy platform.
The change affects cards linked to both American Express and co-branded partners such as Delta Air Lines (DL).
American Express has positioned the Resy benefit as part of its premium lifestyle offering for card members. The program currently allows broad usage across restaurants listed on Resy, but the upcoming revision narrows access significantly.
This adjustment is expected to reshape how cardholders use dining credits across participating location.

Credit Eligibility Requirements Change and Restriction Update
American Express will limit the Resy dining credit so that only restaurants designated as eligible in the Resy app or website will qualify. Starting August 1, 2026, transactions must occur at participating establishments at the time of purchase to trigger the benefit.
This marks a shift from the current system, where most Resy-listed restaurants generally qualify without additional verification. Under the new structure, eligibility becomes conditional and may change without notice based on program updates.
The restriction introduces a higher level of monitoring for cardholders. Users will need to confirm eligibility before dining to ensure successful redemption of the credit, Upgraded Points reported.

Amex Restaurant Access Rules Update
Eligible restaurants will be clearly labeled within the Resy booking platform and mobile application. Only those designated by American Express and Resy will activate the statement credit at checkout.
The list of participating restaurants will remain dynamic and subject to periodic changes. This means that a restaurant included today may not necessarily remain eligible in the future.
Card members will need to verify restaurant participation regularly, especially when planning repeat visits. The change reduces flexibility and increases reliance on real-time platform updates.

Card Impact Analysis and Eligibility Shift
The updated policy will affect several American Express products, including The Platinum Card® from American Express, American Express® Gold Card, and multiple Delta SkyMiles® credit cards issued in partnership with Delta Air Lines (DL).
These cards currently offer Resy-linked dining credits as part of their premium benefits package.
The Platinum Card® provides up to $400 in annual Resy credits, typically distributed as quarterly statement credits. The revised rules may require cardholders to plan dining activity more carefully to fully utilize the benefit.
Although the program remains a key feature of Amex’s premium card ecosystem, the added eligibility requirement reduces ease of use. This change aligns with a broader industry trend toward structured and controlled redemption systems for lifestyle credits.
