DELHI- Air India (AI) has brought back 149 stranded passengers from Dubai (DXB) to Delhi (DEL) on its first rescue flight amid the ongoing Middle East crisis. The special service marked the first repatriation flight operated by an Indian carrier during the current situation.
Flight AI916D landed safely at Delhi Airport (DEL) at 10:58 am IST, carrying passengers who had been unable to travel due to regional disruptions. Earlier, another special flight returned stranded crew members to India.

Air India First Rescue Flight
Air India operated flight AI916D from Dubai (DXB) to Delhi (DEL) as part of special operations to assist stranded passengers. The aircraft, registered as VT-EDC, transported 149 passengers who were unable to travel due to prevailing conditions in the Middle East.
The airline confirmed that the flight landed safely at 10:58 am IST. This operation marks the first instance of an Indian airline conducting a rescue service during the ongoing regional crisis.
In an official statement, Air India said it welcomed back stranded passengers from Dubai and confirmed the safe arrival of the aircraft in Delhi. The airline described the operation as a coordinated effort carried out under challenging circumstances.

Additional Special Flight For Stranded Crew
Earlier the same day, Air India operated another special service, flight AI918D, from Dubai (DXB) to Delhi (DEL). This flight brought back 143 cockpit and cabin crew members of Air India (AI) and Air India Express (IX), who had also been stranded.
The arrival of the crew provided operational relief to the airline and reassurance to their families.
Their return ensures the availability of personnel for subsequent services as operations stabilize.

Coordinated Operations Under Extraordinary Conditions
Air India stated that its Operations Control Centre and support teams worked continuously to plan and execute the rescue flights. The airline coordinated closely with the Indian Government, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and Dubai authorities to secure necessary approvals.
The carrier emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority. It confirmed ongoing coordination with Dubai Airports and other relevant authorities to operate additional flights when approvals are granted.
Air India said it continues to monitor the situation closely and will adjust operations based on developments in the region.
