DUBAI- Singapore Airlines (SQ) confirms year-round Airbus A380 service between Singapore and Dubai, replacing earlier seasonal plans and increasing premium capacity on the route.
Dubai now joins London and Sydney as a permanent A380 destination in the airline’s network, ensuring continued access to flagship cabins.

Singapore Airlines A380 to Dubai
Singapore Airlines initially planned to operate the Airbus A380 seasonally on its Singapore to Dubai flights starting March 2026, before reverting to the Boeing 777-300ER in late October. The latest schedule update now shows daily A380 service continuing through the entire Northern Winter 2026 to 2027 season until 27 March 2027.
The decision signals a firm commitment to maintain higher capacity on the route. The airline is also selling all six Suite Class seats available on the A380 throughout the period. Since the Boeing 777-300ER offers only four First Class seats, continuing to sell six Suites strongly indicates no planned downgrade.
The update also aligns with persistent slot constraints at Dubai International Airport, where securing additional landing rights has limited Singapore Airlines’ expansion plans in recent years. Maintaining larger aircraft solves this constraint by increasing seat capacity without requiring extra frequencies, MainlyMiles reported.
Flight Schedule and Seasonal Adjustments
Singapore Airlines currently operates one daily Singapore to Dubai rotation as SQ494 and SQ495.
From 29 March 2026, the Airbus A380 will replace the Boeing 777-300ER on the route.
Summer 2026 Schedule
- SQ494: Depart Singapore 14:40, arrive Dubai 18:00
- SQ495: Depart Dubai 19:45, arrive Singapore 07:30 the next day
For Northern Winter operations beginning 25 October 2026, slight timing adjustments apply.
Winter 2026 to 2027 Schedule
- SQ494: Depart Singapore 14:30, arrive Dubai 18:10
- SQ495: Depart Dubai 19:50, arrive Singapore 07:15 the next day
The service remains daily throughout the period.

Dubai Becomes a Permanent A380 Destination
With this update, Dubai joins London Heathrow and Sydney as year-round A380 destinations in the Singapore Airlines network.
Other cities, such as Delhi and Mumbai, temporarily lose A380 service during peak summer periods, while cities including Frankfurt, Auckland, Shanghai, and Hong Kong receive the aircraft seasonally, depending on demand.
Fleet limits play a key role. Singapore Airlines operates only 12 Airbus A380 aircraft after retiring seven during the pandemic, forcing selective deployment decisions.

Rising Gulf Competition on Singapore Routes
Capacity between Singapore and Gulf hubs is also increasing across competing carriers.
Emirates now operates three daily A380 flights between Dubai and Singapore, alongside one Boeing 777 service.
Etihad Airways resumed daily A380 flights between Abu Dhabi and Singapore in early 2025. Qatar Airways is also deploying an A380 on one of its Singapore to Doha services.
Additionally, Oman Air plans to restart Singapore to Muscat flights from July 2026 using Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.
The competitive environment reinforces Singapore Airlines’ strategy to maintain high-capacity aircraft on key Middle East routes.

A380 Cabins and Passenger Experience
Passengers on the Dubai route continue to access Singapore Airlines’ latest onboard products:
- 2017 Suites Class with private cabins and double-bed options
- Latest generation Business Class seats
- Premium Economy cabin
- Updated Economy Class seats
- KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system
- Upgraded onboard Wi-Fi connectivity
All 12 A380 aircraft now feature the updated cabin configuration.
KrisFlyer Award Redemption Overview
KrisFlyer members can redeem miles on the Singapore to Dubai route across all cabin classes, although availability varies.
Recent program changes increased redemption costs by roughly 10 to 20 percent for this zone, making Saver awards harder to secure, particularly in Suites Class.
Business Class Saver awards remain more accessible, and availability often improves closer to departure.
Taxes and fees typically range from SGD 47 to SGD 67, depending on travel direction.

Strategic Importance of the Move
Maintaining the A380 year-round allows Singapore Airlines to maximize passenger capacity while navigating slot limitations at Dubai International Airport. It also strengthens competitiveness against Gulf carriers’ expanding services into Southeast Asia.
For travelers, the move guarantees consistent availability of premium cabin options and improved seat supply compared with previous Boeing 777 operations.
Dubai now effectively stands as the airline’s third full-time A380 market, reinforcing its status as a major hub within Singapore Airlines’ long-haul network.
