SEOUL- South Korea’s Air Premia (YP) will begin nonstop Boeing 787 flights from Seoul Incheon (ICN) to Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) on April 24, marking the second carrier on the route after Korean Air.
The schedule aligns with the peak summer travel period and is designed to meet high seasonal demand and fares.
The launch of this route, operated by Air Premia and Washington Dulles Airport, will include a 4-weekly Boeing 787-9 service and will become the airline’s longest United States operation due to westbound block times of up to 15 hours and 25 minutes. The airline will also operate charter flights to Las Vegas in January.

Air Premia Seoul to Washington Flights
Air Premia positions itself as a hybrid model carrier, combining wide-body long-haul operations with efficient pricing.
The upcoming route will compete directly with Korean Air on a market that saw 124,000 round-trip passengers between Incheon and Dulles in the 12 months through September 2025, and 154,000 passengers when all DC-area airports are combined.
According to booking data shared by Aeroroutes, this will be the first time two airlines jointly serve the sector.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for April 24. Aeroroutes also displays the planned operating pattern of Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
On outbound flights to the United States, block times are 13 hours and 45 minutes. The return flights are longer because the airline will avoid Russian airspace, resulting in block times up to 15 hours and 25 minutes.
Detailed Schedule Information
The expected operating schedule for the launch week is as follows:
| Route | Departure Time (Local) | Arrival Time (Local) | Duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Incheon (ICN) → Washington Dulles (IAD) | 10:05 AM | 10:50 AM | 13h 45m | Same-day arrival |
| Washington Dulles (IAD) → Incheon (ICN) | 1:20 PM | 5:45 PM +1 | 15h 25m | Next-day arrival |

Fleet and Cabins Serving the US
Ch-aviation data shows that Air Premia operates 8 Boeing 787-9 aircraft with an average fleet age of 7.4 years.
A ninth 787-9, previously operated by Korean Air, will join shortly. Seating layouts range from 309 to 344 seats across multiple configurations.
Flightradar24 tracking confirms these variations are actively used across US routes, supporting flexible capacity deployment.
The extended duration of the return sector and the long stage length make the Seoul to Washington Dulles service the most demanding in the airline’s network.
According to Simple Flying, the routing reinforces Air Premia’s strategy of leveraging the efficiency of the Dreamliner on long-haul routes without a hub-and-spoke model.

Competitive and Commercial Considerations
Air Premia depends entirely on point-to-point traffic, as it does not operate a transfer network. Long-haul point-to-point is regarded as a high-risk business model and has challenged other carriers such as Norse Atlantic.
However, the Washington metropolitan region demonstrates strong travel demand to South Korea and the broader Asian market, presenting a potential opportunity for strategic pricing.
The DC region served approximately 1.5 million Asia-bound passengers (excluding the Middle East) in the 12 months through September. The top markets were:
- Tokyo – 185,000 passengers
- Seoul – 154,000 passengers
- Hyderabad – 133,000 passengers
- Delhi – 111,000 passengers
- Manila – 97,000 passengers
- Ho Chi Minh City – 79,000 passengers
- Mumbai – 69,000 passengers
- Beijing – 66,000 passengers
- Bangkok – 58,000 passengers
- Chennai – 49,000 passengers
Air India suspended Delhi–Dulles service in June 2025, reducing competition on one of the region’s largest South Asia routes.

Air Premia’s US Network
The airline launched US operations in 2022 with service to Los Angeles. Newark and San Francisco were added in 2023.
Honolulu entered the network in 2025 after temporary seasonal flights in 2024. One year ago the carrier publicly disclosed its intention to serve Seattle, although the route has still not been officially announced.
For the first week of May 2026, Air Premia plans 31 weekly US departures:
| Destination (US) | Weekly Flights |
|---|---|
| Los Angeles (LAX) | 11 |
| Newark (EWR) | 7 |
| San Francisco (SFO) | 5 |
| Honolulu (HNL) | 4 |
| Washington Dulles (IAD) | 4 |
For comparison, only 15 US departures were scheduled for the same week in 2025. When considering all airlines, 242 weekly flights will operate between Seoul and the United States during this 2026 period. Air Premia will account for roughly 13 percent of overall market capacity.

Final Outlook
The success of the Seoul–Washington Dulles launch will hinge on Air Premia’s ability to compete on price and scheduling against full-service network carriers while maintaining load factors without connecting feed.
Demand indicators are strong, and the addition of a second nonstop option will expand consumer choice and increase competition on one of the capital region’s highest volume Asian markets.
The airline’s expanding Dreamliner fleet and measured rollout of US destinations position it for continued long-haul growth if sustained performance is achieved.
