ISTANBUL- Turkish Airlines (TK) is preparing to offer a consistent Business Class experience on all Singapore Changi (SIN) flights, replacing the mixed cabin lineup with its direct aisle access layout. This shift includes services to both Istanbul (IST) and Melbourne (MEL).
The airline will move entirely to Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft from March 2026, removing the older Boeing 777-300ER jets that still operate Singapore–Istanbul rotations today.

Turkish Airlines New Business Class to Singapore
Turkish Airlines’ decision ends years of inconsistency for passengers flying between Singapore and Istanbul.
At present, the route alternates between aircraft fitted with the older 2-3-2 Business Class layout and newer jets equipped with a 1-2-1 seating plan. While Melbourne flights already use the updated cabin, the Istanbul service has long been unpredictable.
The older 2-3-2 cabin on selected Boeing 777-300ERs offers flat beds but lacks privacy. A third of passengers do not have direct aisle access, and middle seats remain a drawback for solo travellers. Couples may still enjoy the side-by-side layout, but overall, the design falls short of modern expectations for long-haul comfort.
Turkish Airlines introduced its 1-2-1 Business Class seats on Singapore flights in 2020 through the Boeing 787 and newer Airbus A350s. These aircraft use the Stelia Symphony seat, offering direct aisle access for all passengers, an 18-inch entertainment screen, free Business Class Wi-Fi, and improved privacy. Despite these upgrades, the route has remained a lottery due to rotating aircraft assignments.

What Changes from March 2026
From 3 March 2026, every Turkish Airlines flight between Singapore and Istanbul will use either the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787. Each of these aircraft features the airline’s newer 1-2-1 Business Class seat, ensuring direct aisle access and a uniform product across all rotations.
This adjustment includes:
- All three weekly Singapore–Melbourne flights, which already operate with the updated cabin
- All up to seventeen weekly Singapore–Istanbul flights, which will drop the Boeing 777-300ER
Seasonal schedule shifts will continue, but the improved cabin remains guaranteed throughout 2026, Mainly Miles reported.
Updated Schedules: Singapore–Istanbul
The updated aircraft assignments remove the Boeing 777-300ER entirely. Between March and October 2026, Turkish Airlines will operate a mix of A350s and 787-9s before transitioning to an all-A350 schedule from mid-September. Across these months, passengers can expect a consistent 1-2-1 Business Class layout on every flight.
Although the winter 2026–27 schedule is not yet published, the airline’s fleet plan suggests continued standardisation on the route.
Singapore–Melbourne service
Turkish Airlines continues to operate its Singapore–Melbourne fifth-freedom flights with the Airbus A350. Northern summer schedules from late March 2026 bring minor timing adjustments, but the new Business Class product stays in place.
The route currently runs daily and offers a strong alternative for travellers seeking award availability or competitive fares.

Redeeming Miles on Turkish Airlines
Travellers can redeem Star Alliance miles on these flights, with Turkish Airlines’ Miles&Smiles and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer being the most accessible programmes. Miles&Smiles generally offers lower mileage requirements and slightly lower taxes.
For example:
- Singapore–Melbourne costs 56,000 Miles&Smiles miles or 90,000 KrisFlyer miles
- Singapore–Istanbul costs 65,000 Miles&Smiles miles or 90,500 KrisFlyer miles
Carrier surcharges are higher when redeeming through KrisFlyer, which can make Miles&Smiles a better value option.
Turkish Airlines’ Future ‘Crystal’ Business Class
In 2024, the airline unveiled its upcoming Crystal Business Class seat, a 1-2-1 product with privacy doors based on the Safran Unity platform.
The retrofit programme will begin with Boeing 777-300ERs and extend to new Airbus A350 deliveries from 2026.
This long-term upgrade will gradually eliminate the older 2-3-2 layout across the fleet, though passengers should expect a multi-year transition.

Bottom Line
Turkish Airlines’ move to standardise its Business Class product on Singapore routes marks a meaningful improvement for travellers.
From March 2026, every flight to Istanbul and Melbourne will feature the airline’s 1-2-1 cabin with direct aisle access, Wi-Fi, and enhanced privacy.
While the even newer Crystal Business Class is coming later in the decade, the shift to consistent aircraft on the Singapore route already delivers a clear and predictable upgrade.
