NAIROBI- Dubai-based Emirates (EK) is set to introduce a third daily service between Dubai (DXB) and Nairobi (NBO) from 1 March 2026. This expansion comes as the airline marks three decades of operations to Nairobi.
The new offering will bring the weekly frequency on the route to 21 flights and will feature a three-class Boeing 777 aircraft, including the carrier’s First Class suite product previously unavailable on all rotations.

Emirates Adds Third Flight to Nairobi
The additional daily rotation is timed to enhance connectivity for inbound arrivals from Europe and the United States, offering early-morning arrival and departure options at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
This scheduling aims to align with onward regional connections via Nairobi and reinforces Emirates’ network strategy in East Africa.
Since launching services to Kenya in October 1995, Emirates has carried over 6.6 million passengers on more than 34,000 flights to Nairobi.
The strong performance of the existing double-daily service motivated this capacity upgrade, with seat factors reported to be healthy.

Tourism and Trade Impacts
By adding capacity on the DXB-NBO spur, Emirates bolsters Kenya’s ambition to attract five million international visitors by 2030.
The added flight also lifts cargo belly-hold capacity by approximately 280 tonnes per week, supporting Kenya’s substantial export sector of fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables that rely on rapid transit to global markets.
The interline partnership between Emirates and Kenya Airways (KQ), established in 2023, already links Nairobi with destinations across East and Southern Africa.
The schedule enhancement strengthens this connectivity and opens further access for outbound Kenyan traffic to Emirates’ global network.

Flight Schedule
The new third rotation will operate using a Boeing 777 in a three-class configuration, offering eight private First Class suites, 42 lie-flat Business Class seats, and an Economy cabin.
Departures from DXB for flight EK717 are scheduled at 00:55 local time, arriving NBO at 05:05, while the return flight EK718 departs Nairobi at 06:50, arriving Dubai at 12:50.
This early schedule is designed to optimise connections with flights from and to Europe and the U.S., and to enable time-sensitive cargo dispatches from Kenya’s fresh-produce and floriculture industries.
The route already sees strong inbound demand from Asia and Australasia, including key markets such as China, South Korea, Thailand, and Australia.

Strengthening African Link
For Emirates, the Nairobi route now ranks among its busiest corridors in Africa, and the third-daily frequency reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to Kenya’s aviation and tourism development.
On Kenya’s side, the strengthening of trade links via Dubai supports broader economic ties between the United Arab Emirates and Kenya, which include a recent Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
This upgrade also positions Nairobi as a hub for onward traffic across Africa, and further underscores the role of Emirates in supporting both business and leisure flows on the continent. The added capacity and improved scheduling enhance the value proposition for travellers and exporters alike.

Bottom Line
Emirates’ launch of a third daily service to Nairobi signals a significant step in reinforcing ties between Dubai and Kenya.
With enhanced connectivity, added capacity, and an extended aircraft offering, the move supports both tourism growth and trade expansion.
For aviation observers and industry stakeholders, this development underlines Nairobi’s growing importance within the wider African network strategy and Emirates’ commitment to long-haul growth from its Middle East hub.
