DUBAI— Etihad Airways (EY) has unveiled the cabin design for its incoming Airbus A330-900neo aircraft at Arabian Travel Market 2026, introducing four private First suites, fully lie-flat Business seats and an upgraded Economy cabin.
The new aircraft will enter service from September 2027 as part of a broader investment in Etihad’s fleet and premium passenger experience.
Dubai International Airport (DXB) hosted the airline’s showcase, where Etihad presented the new A330 cabin as part of its wider Beyond Borders strategy.
The airline plans to receive 15 A330neo aircraft over five years, with the type expected to serve regional and medium-haul markets where Etihad sees growing demand for premium travel.
Etihad A330neo Cabins
The new A330neo will feature three cabins with four First suites, 24 Business seats and 252 Economy seats.
The layout gives Etihad a substantial premium offering on a widebody aircraft intended primarily for regional and medium-haul operations.
Each First suite will have a closing door, a 32-inch entertainment screen, wireless charging, dedicated storage and a personal powder station.
The suites will also provide space for passengers to dine or socialize with a companion, extending the private First concept that Etihad has already introduced on its Airbus A321LR.
The Business cabin will contain 24 forward-facing seats, all offering direct aisle access and fully lie-flat beds. Each seat will also feature a sliding door, a 17.3-inch screen, wireless and wired charging, a large table and dedicated personal storage.
New Economy Product
Etihad is also upgrading the A330neo Economy cabin with features aimed at improving comfort and connectivity. The 252-seat Economy section will include a dedicated 32-seat Extra Legroom area with four additional inches of seat pitch.
The seats will feature Etihad’s fixed-wing headrest, 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens and personal charging facilities.
The combination of additional legroom and upgraded entertainment is intended to give the airline a stronger product across all three cabins.
The A330neo forms part of a wider fleet expansion that Etihad has been pursuing through new Airbus widebody commitments.
The airline previously announced agreements covering A330-900s, A350-1000s and A350 freighters, with deliveries beginning in 2027.
Etihad Expands First
The new A330neo also signals a broader push to expand First Class across Etihad’s fleet. The airline plans to increase its First-seat count over the next five years through new aircraft and cabin retrofit programmes.
Etihad is building on the response to its A321LR First suites, which introduced a fully enclosed premium product on a narrowbody aircraft.
The A330neo will take that concept to a larger widebody platform while retaining fully lie-flat Business seating.
Etihad’s flagship First Apartments and The Residence will continue to occupy the top end of its premium offering on the Airbus A380.
Meanwhile, the airline says its Beyond Borders strategy will extend beyond aircraft cabins into lounges, dining, wellbeing and connectivity as it invests in its wider guest experience.
