Traveling with family is always special. It’s not just about the places you see, but the little moments in between, the laughter in the van, the shared meals, the jokes after a roller coaster ride, and the tired but happy faces at the end of the day. Our trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai was all of that rolled into one.
We spent nine days between the two cities, starting in Abu Dhabi and ending in Dubai, and each day gave us something new to remember.
Along the way, we also picked up lessons and tips that made the journey smoother and more enjoyable. If you are planning your own trip, especially with family, I hope our experience will help you make the most of yours.
Day 1: Arrival in Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld

The excitement began as soon as we landed in Abu Dhabi. Our private van was waiting for us, and what made it memorable was the warmth of the drivers.
Every driver we had during the trip happened to be from Pakistan, and without exception, each one was humble, kind, and genuinely helpful. They were more than drivers; they were guides in their own way, sharing little stories, asking about our day, and always making sure we were comfortable.
We checked into our hotel on Yas Island, and after freshening up, we headed straight to SeaWorld. This was our first big attraction, and it didn’t disappoint.

SeaWorld is much more than an aquarium. It felt like stepping into another universe where marine life is celebrated in the most fascinating way. We walked through tunnels surrounded by sharks, watched dolphins leap gracefully, and saw penguins waddling playfully.
It was especially fun for the kids, but adults enjoyed it just as much. What struck us most was how the park emphasized conservation and education along with entertainment. It wasn’t just about watching animals, but about understanding their world.
Tip of the day: Carry water bottles from your hotel. Attractions like SeaWorld can take hours to explore, and buying bottled water inside gets expensive. Having your own bottles handy saves money and keeps you refreshed.
Day 2: Yas Waterworld

If SeaWorld was about wonder, Yas Waterworld was pure joy. The moment we entered, the kids ran toward the slides, while the older ones eyed the lazy river. The park has more than forty rides, so there is something for everyone.
The highlight for thrill seekers was Dawwama, a tornado-style water coaster that sent us spinning and laughing at the same time. For those who preferred something gentler, floating along the Al Raha River was the perfect way to relax.

What made Yas Waterworld unique was its theme. The park is designed around the story of pearl diving, a tradition deeply rooted in Emirati culture. It was fun to notice the details in the décor and storytelling while we moved from one ride to another.
By evening, we were sun-kissed, tired, and happy.
Lesson learned: Always wear a good pair of walking shoes or water-friendly sandals. There is a lot of walking around theme parks, and comfort makes all the difference.
Day 3: Ferrari World and Yas Mall

Day three was dedicated to speed and shopping. Ferrari World is impossible to miss with its massive red roof. Inside, it is every car lover’s dream, but even for those less interested in cars, the rides are thrilling.
Some of us dared to try Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster. It goes from zero to 240 km/h in under five seconds, and it is as intense as it sounds. The screams turned into laughter once we got off, and it became one of those family moments we’ll never forget.
The park also had plenty for kids, with simulators and gentler rides that gave them the Ferrari experience in their own way. The Italian-style interiors made it feel like we were strolling through a European street in the middle of Abu Dhabi.

Since Ferrari World connects directly to Yas Mall, it was natural to spend the second half of the day there. The mall is enormous, with every kind of shop and restaurant you can imagine. After the adrenaline of the rides, the calm of window-shopping, sipping coffee, and buying souvenirs was the perfect balance.
Plan at least half a day for Ferrari World and another half for Yas Mall. Don’t try to rush them into just a few hours, because both deserve time.
Tip of the day: Do not carry extra items like food, drinks, or spare clothes, as they aren’t allowed inside. Renting a locker for storage is quite expensive, so it’s best to bring only what you truly need for the experience.
Day 4: Abu Dhabi City Tour, IFLY at Clymb, and Dubai Cruise Dinner

This day showed us a different side of Abu Dhabi. We began with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is truly breathtaking. The scale, the white marble, the chandeliers, and the peacefulness of the place left us in awe. Even the kids were quiet, walking barefoot across the cool marble floors.
Next, we visited the BAPS Hindu Temple, a beautiful structure that felt like a piece of India in the UAE. It was a reminder of how cultures and faiths can exist side by side.

Note: Avoid bringing cameras or sharp objects like scissors or knives, as they are strictly not allowed inside.
Before leaving Yas Island, we had one more thrill waiting at Clymb. This is where we tried IFLY, an indoor skydiving experience. Floating in mid-air inside the vertical wind tunnel was surreal. Even those who were nervous at first ended up laughing and loving it.

By evening, it was time to leave Abu Dhabi and drive to Dubai. After checking into our hotel and freshening up, we boarded the Lotus VIP Upper Deck Cruise. Dinner on the water, with Dubai Marina glowing around us, was magical.
The cool breeze, the reflections of skyscrapers in the water, and the joy of being together made it one of the most beautiful evenings of the trip.
Lesson learned: Mix cultural sights with fun activities on the same day. It keeps everyone engaged, especially when traveling with kids and older family members together.
Day 5: Shopping and Desert Safari
Shopping at the famous Meena Bazaar and Gold Souk

The morning was a leisurely one for us since our driver was about to pick us up at 3 in the afternoon. But instead of lazing around, we decided to make the most of our time and headed straight for some shopping at Meena Bazaar and the Gold Souk in Deira.
Wandering through Meena Bazaar felt like stepping into a vibrant maze of colors, scents, and bargains, from traditional Indian jewelry and perfumes to sparkling textiles and souvenirs, every corner had something to catch the eye.

To reach the Gold Souk, we took a ferry ride across the creek from Meena Bazaar to Deira, and it turned out to be one of the simplest yet most memorable parts of the day. The ride cost just 1 AED per person, but the view- the glimmering water, wooden abras gliding past, and the skyline shimmering in the heat, was priceless. It was a small, beautiful reminder that sometimes, the simplest experiences end up being the most special.
Desert Safari

Our VIP Desert Safari experience in the golden dunes of Sharjah was one unforgettable evening filled with thrill, beauty, and a touch of desert magic. We had the option to choose between a Nissan and a Land Cruiser for our ride; of course, we went with the Land Cruiser for that full safari vibe.
Our driver picked us up right from our hotel, and after about a 45-minute scenic drive through the city’s outskirts, we reached the vast desert where the real adventure began. Before the main safari, we had a half-hour break, the perfect time to try quad biking.
A small tip: bargain hard before finalizing your quad biking deal; prices can vary, and a little negotiation goes a long way. The 20-minute quad ride was pure freedom, just us, our bikes, and the endless amber dunes stretching in every direction.
Once done, our driver took the Land Cruiser to a small garage to deflate the tires, preparing for the dune bashing ahead. And then it began; the wild rollercoaster through Sharjah’s desert! The Land Cruiser slid, dipped, and climbed over dunes like waves of golden silk, our laughter mixing with the roar of the sandstorm around us.
We stopped to watch the sunset, and it was unforgettable. The desert turned golden and then shifted into shades of orange and purple. Standing there with our family, cameras clicking, was one of those moments that stay etched in memory.

After that serene pause, we headed to the VIP camp area, where we tried camel riding, enjoyed live performances, from belly dances and fire shows to tanoura spins, and tucked into a lavish buffet dinner.
Being vegetarians, the food wasn’t quite the highlight for us, but the energy of the evening more than made up for it. As the night cooled, we sat under a sky full of stars before our driver dropped us back to our hotel.
Tip: Don’t eat too much before the safari, the dune bashing can easily turn your stomach, and if you happen to throw up in the car, you’ll face a hefty cleaning fine.
Best time: Evening safaris are the best. The temperature is cooler, the light is perfect for photos, and the atmosphere is more magical than during the day.
It was truly one of those nights where time stood still, a perfect mix of adrenaline, laughter, and desert charm.
Day 6: Museum of the Future, Limousine Ride, and Yacht Cruise
A Grand Celebration on Wheels

It was our mother’s 50th birthday, and we wanted to make it truly special. After breakfast, a sleek limousine was waiting right outside our hotel, gleaming under the morning sun. The driver opened the door with a smile, and the moment we stepped in, it felt surreal: plush seats, colorful lights, and our favorite songs playing in the background.
The one-hour ride through Dubai’s stunning cityscape felt like a royal tour. We stopped beneath the magnificent Dubai Frame, where we clicked some beautiful family pictures with the limo parked beside us, the perfect blend of elegance and emotion.

Soon after, we were back on the road, soaking in every bit of the luxury before returning to our hotel. It was a short but unforgettable experience, the kind that makes milestone birthdays feel even more magical.
Note: Don’t be late for your pickup. If your hotel doesn’t allow parking, the limo won’t wait; it keeps moving, and your ride time starts ticking the moment it arrives.

After our limo ride, we took a short rest before heading out for our much-awaited visit to the Museum of the Future. The building itself is a marvel, shaped like a silver ring with Arabic calligraphy carved across it. Our entry slot had been pre-booked, so we arrived right on time and were instantly captivated by the museum’s stunning architecture. It looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

Stepping inside felt like walking into another dimension. The grand entrance hall greeted us with a giant robotic fish floating gracefully in midair, setting the tone for what was to come. After check-in, we received blue wristbands with QR codes carrying our names, our digital identity for the journey ahead.
We waited briefly before boarding a massive lift designed to look like a spacecraft. The doors closed, and suddenly, we were surrounded by immersive visuals and sounds, engines roaring, lights flickering, as the elevator “took off” toward space. When the doors opened again, we found ourselves not in Dubai 2025, but Dubai 2073.
Each exhibit was futuristic and awe-inspiring, from AI-driven ecosystems to interactive space pods. We even got to the museum’s rooftop, where the panoramic city view left us speechless. The blend of the skyline and the museum’s curved structure made it a perfect spot for photos.
The highlight, though, was meeting the robotic dogs roaming around, responding to gestures and commands. It truly felt like stepping into the future, an experience so surreal, you forget what year you’re in.

After our visit to the Museum of the Future, we made our way to Dubai Marina, where a balloon-decorated private yacht awaited us for our mom’s 50th birthday celebration. The moment we stepped onboard, we were greeted by the warm and cheerful crew, who instantly made us feel like the yacht was ours.
Sailing past the Burj Al Arab and Atlantis The Palm, as the city lights shimmered in the water, was magical. We laughed, danced, and celebrated with pure joy; it was one of those moments that felt almost unreal. The golden sunset over the water, the gentle sea breeze, and the sight of our mom smiling made it all feel truly magical- a celebration we’ll remember forever.
Lesson learned: Splurge on at least one luxury experience. Whether it’s a yacht, a limo, or a fine-dining evening, it adds sparkle to the trip and gives you a memory worth keeping forever.
Day 7: Sky Views, Burj Khalifa, and The Palm

Day seven was about heights and views. We began at the Sky Views Observatory. Walking across the glass bridge gave us an adrenaline rush, and the glass slide was something none of us will forget. Sliding down while looking at the city below was both terrifying and exhilarating.

Next came the Burj Khalifa, the highlight of any Dubai trip. From the 124th floor, we could see the desert stretching endlessly on one side and the sea on the other. The city looked like a miniature model, and we couldn’t stop taking photos.
In the afternoon, we headed to The View at The Palm. Only from above can you truly appreciate the scale of Palm Jumeirah, with its fronds stretching out into the Arabian Gulf.
Tip of the day: Book Burj Khalifa tickets in advance and choose a slot around sunset. You get to see the city both in daylight and as it lights up at night.
Day 8: Leisure and Hidden Corners of Dubai
After several packed days, we decided to slow down. With a private car at our disposal, we had the freedom to explore at our own pace.
We went shopping again at China Mall, Ibinbatuta Mall, and the Gold Souk, and wandered through Al Fahidi Historical District. This part of the city, with its narrow lanes and wind towers, felt like a glimpse of old Dubai before the skyscrapers.

As the sun began to set, we drove towards Palm Atlantis, and the view from there was absolutely surreal; the sea shimmered under shades of gold and pink that felt straight out of a dream. We spent some time just soaking in the moment, taking pictures, and watching the waves gently crash against the iconic palm-shaped island.

Later in the evening, we headed to JBR Beach, where the energy was infectious- music, lights, and laughter all around. We ended the day on the sweetest note by trying the most viral gelato ice cream, creamy, rich, and every bit worth the hype. It was the perfect end to a magical journey.
Lesson learned: Always keep a balance in your itinerary. Don’t pack every day with heavy sightseeing. A slower day gives you time to rest, shop, and discover smaller details that tours often skip.
Day 9: Farewell Dubai

Our final morning came too soon. We packed our bags, checked out, and headed to the airport. As the plane took off and Dubai’s skyline shrank in the distance, we felt grateful for the experiences we had shared. This wasn’t just a holiday. It was nine days of family bonding, laughter, and lessons.
