NEW YORK- Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines (DL) will resume its seasonal direct flight between Rio de Janeiro and New York City from December 20, 2024, to March 27, 2025. The route connects two of the world’s most dynamic cities, facilitating cultural exchange, family visits, and economic interactions between Brazil and the United States.
The Boeing 767-300ER will operate the route, featuring four distinct cabin classes to accommodate diverse traveler preferences. The aircraft can transport 215 passengers across multiple service levels.
Delta Rio De Janeiro Flight
Delta One offers 25 premium seats configured in a 1-2-1 layout, ensuring direct aisle access for every passenger. These seats fully recline into beds, providing maximum comfort. Passengers receive Missoni-branded amenity kits with Grown Alchemist skincare products.
Travelers can preselect main course meals through the Fly Delta app between one week and 24 hours before departure.
Delta Premium Select provides 18 wider seats with enhanced recline, adjustable headrests, and footrests. Passengers enjoy locally inspired dining and personalized service. They also receive handcrafted amenity kits from Mexican brand Someone Somewhere, containing travel essentials.
Delta Comfort+ includes 21 seats with dedicated overhead bin space and preferred cabin positioning. The Main Cabin offers 151 ergonomic seats equipped with individual entertainment screens.
Returning travelers can access the newly opened Delta One Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The 39,000-square-foot space provides premium travelers with gourmet dining, wellness treatments, valet service, and relaxation areas before boarding.

Delta Brazil-US Flight Network
Delta Air Lines is strengthening its connectivity between Brazil and the United States by reintroducing seasonal routes and increasing flight frequencies. The airline will resume its Rio de Janeiro to New York direct flight and expand its Atlanta route during the Southern Hemisphere’s summer season.
Ricardo de Oliveira, Delta’s Regional Sales Manager in Brazil, highlighted the strategic importance of these routes. The seasonal flight between Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and New York (JFK) targets travelers seeking vacation destinations during peak travel periods, accommodating both Brazilian tourists visiting the United States and Americans escaping winter weather.
The JFK-GIG route is part of Delta’s joint venture with LATAM, which has already operated over 11,000 flights and transported more than 2 million passengers in two years. This partnership provides three daily frequencies to New York, including flights from São Paulo, demonstrating the alliance’s robust network.
In addition to the New York route, Delta will upgrade its Rio de Janeiro to Atlanta service.
Upgrades São Paulo to Atlanta Route
Delta has introduced the Airbus 330-900neo on its daytime São Paulo to Atlanta route, marking a significant upgrade in its fleet and passenger experience. The new aircraft represents Delta’s commitment to providing advanced technology and enhanced passenger comfort.
