FORT WORTH- American Airlines (AA) is ramping up the in-flight experience in anticipation of the summer travel surge, introducing a range of premium enhancements to elevate the journey for passengers.
Travelers can expect a luxurious touch with a redesigned amenity kit series, bedding, and delectable new culinary offerings. The airline plans to roll out new Flagship Suite® seats to enhance the onboard experience further.
American Airlines New Amenities
Kim Cisek, American’s Vice President of Customer Experience, emphasized the airline’s commitment to curating every aspect of the onboard journey for passenger enjoyment.
She highlighted the importance of connecting travelers with meaningful experiences, both on the ground and in the air, based on valuable feedback from customers and team members.
American collaborated with a blend of boutique and renowned brands to develop a dynamic onboard program that will evolve over time. The program will feature a variety of kit designs, premium skincare products, and a refreshed bedding program, ensuring passengers enjoy the ultimate in-flight luxury experience.
Rotational Amenities
The new program will debut on over 300 international and transcontinental flights starting from Memorial Day weekend, catering to passengers in Flagship® First Class, Flagship® Business Class, and Premium Economy cabins.
American Airlines will offer its primary amenity kit year-round to premium cabin travelers, ensuring they have essential in-flight comforts like a toothbrush, dental kit, eye mask, and earplugs. Additionally, the kit will feature a selection of evolving skincare products and offerings, reflecting customer preferences.
American plans to regularly refresh the brands and products within the kits across all premium cabins, providing passengers with a distinctive in-flight experience based on direct feedback.
Partnering with beauty retailer Thirteen Lune, American Airlines has curated the skincare offerings, showcasing premium beauty brands from Thirteen Lune’s diverse collection, including renowned names like Joanna Vargas and Relevant, representing a wide range of founders and perspectives.
Special Thirteen Lune Kit
Alongside the evolving products within the kits, passengers will be treated to exclusive specialty kits crafted in collaboration with diverse designers and brands, primarily from the U.S. These limited-edition kits will commemorate specific milestones and initiatives that resonate with the values and backgrounds of American Airlines’ passengers and staff. Expect these unique kits to make their debut in the coming months and years.
To kick off the new amenity program, American Airlines will introduce a Thirteen Lune specialty kit, offering passengers a glimpse into the new kit line and the chance to collect these exclusive editions. Initially, premium cabin travelers will receive the Thirteen Lune kit during the early stages of the program launch. Subsequently, passengers can anticipate receiving the primary amenity kit for the remainder of the summer.
Each specialty kit will be available for a limited time on qualifying flights in Flagship® First Class, Flagship® Business Class, and Premium Economy.
Passengers can explore each featured brand and partner by scanning a QR code conveniently provided within the kit.
Flagship® Class
Passengers will experience upgraded comfort with new bedding, pillows, and sleepwear designed to meet their expectations for a restful journey onboard. American Airlines conducted research with customers, revealing that 75% prefer dual-sided pillows featuring different materials on each side.
Responding to this feedback, passengers traveling in Flagship® First Class or Flagship® Business Class will now enjoy dual-sided pillows featuring cool-touch fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other.
Passengers flying in Flagship® First Class on international flights will continue to receive a set of pajamas, as 80% of first-class travelers value having them onboard. Additionally, passengers in Flagship® Business Class passengers on all international flights will now be provided with slippers onboard, a previously reserved service for ultra-long-haul flights.
Enhanced bedding will be available to passengers in all cabins, including Premium Economy and Main Cabin, offering cabin-specific options such as lumbar pillows, throw blankets, premium duvets, and fleece blankets. These bedding options are developed from premium brands recognized as leaders in their respective industries.
American Airlines collaborated with the inflight textile company John Horsfall to create bedding from recycled materials sourced from their Re-Thread® collection*.
New Dining Menus
While enjoying their meals onboard, passengers can immerse themselves in the culinary journey with various flavors and fresh menus inspired by popular destinations served by American Airlines worldwide. These offerings include internationally influenced dishes such as pasta and salads.
Passengers traveling to one of American’s newly introduced summer destinations like Nice, France; Naples, Italy; or Copenhagen, Denmark, will have the opportunity to savor delightful dishes such as macadamia-crusted sea bass with citrus cream sauce, quinoa, toasted orzo, and haricots verts.
Alongside these offerings, pan-roasted chicken, tortellini pasta, and other selections, including new pre-order options, will be gradually introduced this spring for business class passengers on flights from the U.S. to international destinations.
Passengers flying from Europe in business class can indulge in menu items such as chili-marinated chicken with mojo verde sauce, sweet potato mash, roasted corn, and mini chili, or gnocchi duet featuring plain and beetroot gnocchi, lentil ragout, apple chutney, brown butter, roasted spring onion, and sliced green onion.
Passengers flying in domestic first class can now explore various new dining options during their journey. Travelers can indulge in dishes like shawarma-seasoned grilled chicken, three-cheese sacchetti pasta, chicken enchiladas, or a plant-based stuffed red pepper. Additionally, passengers can opt for new pre-order selections, including short rib mac and cheese.
These fresh choices in premium cabins aim to offer a diverse range of culinary delights complemented by award-winning wines. For AAdvantage® members, accumulated miles and status can open doors to enjoying these premium inflight experiences.
