FORT WORTH- After making headlines with 260 aircraft orders and making adjustments to its inflight offerings, American Airlines (AA) has added the second daily flight on the New York (JFK)– Rome (FCO) sector from June 5, 2024.
The Dallas Fort Worth-based carrier will deploy its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to serve this leisure route.
American New York-Rome Flight
Ishrion Aviation reported that the route was likely to be served by 777-200ER, but now it has been changed to 777-300ER.
Next week, the airline will introduce the 777-300ER aircraft on its existing daily flight between JFK and FCO. However, during the peak summer season, American Airlines will operate two daily flights using 777-300ERs on the same route.
Here are some of American Airlines’ recent expansions in Italy:
- American Airlines extended its DFW-FCO route to operate year-round and introduced a second daily flight during summer.
- The airline launched a new route from Philadelphia (PHL) to Naples (NAP) and reinstated the Chicago (ORD)-Venice (VCE) route.
- The seasonal durations for PHL-VCE and Charlotte (CLT)-FCO routes have been extended.
To compete with American and United (UA), the flag carrier of Italy, ITA Airways (AZ), is launching its maiden flight on the FCO-ORD-FCO route on April 7, 2024. The airline will serve the route with its Airbus A330-900neo aircarft
This flight will augment its existing operations in the United States, which presently cover Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington.
