KANNUR- Kerala’s Kannur International Airport (CNN) is preparing for the upcoming summer season by introducing new routes and improving connectivity, aiming to boost business prospects.
The 2024 Summer Schedule extends Kannur’s reach to various Gulf countries, offering flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-Al-Khaimah, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Kannur Airport New Routes, More Flights
With the recent MoU signed with Air India Express (IX), international connectivity experienced a significant surge, returning to pre-Go First crisis levels. Air India Express inaugurates two new routes to Ras-Al-Khaimah and Dammam, each offering three weekly departures. Kannur emerges as Kerala’s second station to offer Ras Al Khaimah operations, widening passenger travel options.
Moreover, frequencies to Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat witness an increase, resulting in weekly departures of 12, 10, and 7, respectively. Kannur now provides daily departures to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, and Sharjah.
Plans are being made to introduce flights to Salalah, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur as part of this collaboration.
IndiGo (6E) enhances its Chennai departures with A320 aircraft on the domestic front, ensuring a more comfortable journey for passengers. Additionally, IndiGo extends its daily morning departure from Cochin to Thiruvananthapuram, operating as a hopping flight.
Bengaluru emerges as the most connected sector from Kannur, with three daily departures, including two by Indigo and one by Air India Express. Air India Express operates domestic flights with brand new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, promising passengers enhanced comfort.
Kannur also offers daily departures to Hyderabad and four weekly departures to Mumbai.
Increased Connectivity
Air India Express and IndiGo now offer connections to a variety of domestic destinations, including Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Goa, Ranchi, Guwahati, Surat, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Vishakhapatnam, and Bhuvaneshwar.
Additionally, IndiGo facilitates international connections to various European destinations, broadening connectivity choices for travelers.
With aircraft upgrades and increased flight frequencies, Kannur International Airport expects a surge in weekly seating availability.
The Summer Schedule 2024 forecasts a significant 10% rise in seat availability, providing travelers with greater flexibility and options for their travel plans
