Istanbul (IST) and Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) follow closely in second and third place on the list, with 3.8 million and 3.3 million seats, respectively.

There have been no changes in the rankings of these top three airports between March 2024 and March 2023, although all have seen an increase in capacity over the past year.

Europe’s Busiest Airports for March 2023 vs 2024
In March 2023, Madrid Adolfo Suarez-Baraja Airport maintained its position as the fourth busiest airport in Europe. Nevertheless, in a shift of rankings, Amsterdam has now surpassed it, taking over the fourth spot with a total of 3.2 million seats.
On another note, Rome Fiumicino Airport has experienced a notable ascent in rankings over the past year, solidifying its position as the eighth busiest airport on the European list. Conversely, London Gatwick has declined, dropping to the tenth place.
