GURUGRAM- Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Tata-owned Air India (AI), announced the launch of the Cabin Executive Plus (CE Plus) app for all in-flight cabin executives.
The app facilitates convenient access to various features, including flight rosters, operating crew details, real-time seat maps, and a repository of documents such as galley loading plans and style.
Air India CE Plus App
Wilson highlighted in his Friday communication with employees that the app can generate Cabin Crew Voyage reports even offline. This functionality enables the logging of flight observations, cabin defects, and other issues, with electronic routing for efficient and traceable resolution.
Additionally, Wilson mentioned, “It will also populate passenger information, including loyalty status/tiers, meal preferences, and special handling requests so that we can provide a more seamless and personalized in-flight experience for our guests.”
Wilson also mentioned that Air India has partnered with the Karnataka government, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.
Strengthening MRO Capabilities
As part of a broader MRO strategy developed over a year, Wilson stated, “We have progressively brought more line maintenance capabilities in-house, broadening the scope and ability of the Tata airlines to support each other as we move towards a Group Engineering function.”
He further explained that the recent MoU focuses on base maintenance and intends to develop facilities in Bangalore to support wide and narrow-body airframes, along with an increasing share of aircraft components. Wilson expressed enthusiasm for reaching the milestone of transitioning from planning to execution.
In addition to the MRO initiatives, Wilson highlighted the airline’s engineering endeavors, noting a 12-year agreement with SIA Engineering to provide component and on-wing engine support for the existing Airbus A320 fleet.
Similar agreements with other world-class players are being pursued to support various other fleets.
