MUNICH- Lufthansa (LH) customers in the Los Angeles area will be delighted to hear that the Airbus A380 is making its comeback at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on October 26 and to Bangkok (BKK) from October 28, 2023.
As air travel demand continues to rise, reintroducing the A380 to Los Angeles will offer the additional capacity needed to meet the growing market demand effectively.
Lufthansa A380 to Los Angeles
Lufthansa has rescheduled its flights to accommodate the return of the Airbus A380 to Los Angeles. Flight LH453 will take off from Los Angeles at 6:30 pm and land in Munich (MUC) at 1:40 pm the next day, while Flight LH452 will depart Munich at 12 pm and return to Los Angeles at 4:15 pm, all in local times.
These daily flights have been upgraded to provide increased capacity, with the A380 now in service.
Lufthansa made the decision to reactivate the Airbus A380 in response to the substantial surge in travel demand and delays in aircraft deliveries.
Passengers and crews strongly prefer the A380, which is highly regarded. By the end of 2025, a total of eight A380s will be back in operation for flights to and from Munich.
Double-Decker Back to Thailand
Starting on October 28, 2023, Lufthansa German Airlines is reintroducing the A380 on its route to Bangkok, enhancing the direct flight capacity between the Thai capital and Munich, the capital of Bavaria.
The decision to use the A380 on the BKK-MUC route is driven by robust demand, allowing travelers to experience the world’s largest commercial aircraft.
With a rich history spanning over 64 years of connecting Thailand and Germany, Lufthansa has designated Bangkok as the inaugural destination in the Asia Pacific region to welcome the highly popular A380 aircraft.
By reintroducing the A380 on this route, Lufthansa is also reintroducing its renowned First Class cabin and service to Thailand.
The A380, manufactured by Airbus, is a double-deck, wide-body aircraft with four engines, featuring an upper deck that spans the entire length of the fuselage.
The seating configuration includes 8 First Class seats, 78 Business Class seats, 52 Premium Economy seats, and 371 seats in the world’s largest Economy Class.
Anlee Do, the General Manager for Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Mekong region at Lufthansa Group, expressed:
“We are responding to robust demand by expanding capacity on flights between Thailand and Germany. It’s our pleasure to provide Thai travelers with direct A380 service to Munich, a beloved choice among passengers. As the sole airline group offering non-stop A380 service between Thailand and Europe, this underscores our strong commitment to the Thai market.”
Through Lufthansa Group’s Swiss International Air Lines and Austrian Airlines, flight LH773 further enhances capacity between Thailand and Europe, resulting in a total of 21 weekly flights.
This allows passengers to enjoy direct connections to major European cities, including Zurich, Vienna, and Munich.
World’s Largest Passenger Aircraft
The Airbus A380 stands out as one of the world’s most fuel-efficient aircraft, consuming approximately 12 percent less fuel compared to other wide-body jets. Additionally, it offers a noise reduction of around 30 percent in comparison to the current generation of wide-body planes.
Lufthansa’s A380, equipped with 509 seats, boasts an impressive 80 percent more capacity than its Airbus A340-600, which currently serves the Boston to Munich and JFK routes. The aircraft provides four distinct classes of travel: First Class with 8 seats, Business Class with 78 seats, Premium Economy with 52 seats, and Economy Class with 371 seats.
The First Class cabin on the upper deck offers an exceptionally tranquil environment, featuring an innovative air humidification system—a first in commercial aviation. This system enhances air humidity, helping passengers combat jet lag.
The cabin includes two spacious, luxurious bathrooms with separate changing and lavatory areas, ensuring ample personal space and storage. Its eight generously proportioned ergonomic seats, measuring 6 feet and 9 inches in length and 2 feet and 7 inches in width, provide the utmost comfort and innovation, ensuring an exceptional travel experience.
The Business Class cabin is also located on the upper deck, housing 78 seats with improved functionality, including additional storage options and a power supply compatible with all worldwide connections.
On the main deck, passengers can find Lufthansa’s Premium Economy class, featuring 52 seats in the forwardmost compartment of the A380’s main deck. This class provides travelers with a more private space, offering up to 50 percent more legroom. Passengers are allowed to carry two pieces of luggage, each weighing up to 51 lbs.
A warm welcome drink is provided to every passenger, and in-flight meals are served on menu cards using fine chinaware. Premium Economy passengers will also discover an amenity kit at their seats, equipped with practical travel accessories, an electrical plug, and a bottle of water.
The Economy Class is available on both levels of the aircraft. Each of its 371 seats is equipped with an in-seat video screen, an optimized ergonomic design, and a slimmer seat back that provides an additional two inches of personal space per passenger.
