PRAYAGRAJ- Two years after nonstop flights from Prayagraj (IXD) to Kolkata (CCU) were stopped, preparations are underway to resume the Alliance Air (9I) flight service from Sangam City to the ‘City of Joy.’
Officials have announced that starting from July 3, passengers will have access to direct flights from Prayagraj’s Bamrauli airport to the Kolkata
Alliance Air Prayagraj to Kolkata Flights
Alliance Air has been designated as the operating airline for this flight, and the schedule has been finalized. The flight has already received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Further it would operate twice a week, every Monday and Friday, said officials.
As per the schedule, the flight will depart from Prayagraj to Kolkata at 12.25 pm and arrive in Kolkata at 2.10 pm, beginning on July 3. In its return journey, the aircraft will fly from Kolkata to Prayagraj at 2.35 pm and arrive here at 4.15 pm.
The officials said the same aircraft will fly to Delhi at 4.40 pm from Prayagraj airport.
Alliance Air has announced that the minimum fare for their ATR class aircraft will be ₹4,215. They have also confirmed that there will be a total of 72 seats available. Previously, IndiGo used to operate flights between Prayagraj and Kolkata, but this service is discontinued.
In recent months, there has been a significant demand to reinstate this flight as it acts as a crucial connection to the North Eastern states.
Due to the absence of a direct flight, many students and service personnel who need to travel to the NE states have been compelled to rely solely on the railway route.
New routes
Till now, Prayagraj Airport has air connectivity to 11 cities through the air services provided by IndiGo (6E) and Alliance Air.
IndiGo offers direct flights from Prayagraj to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Delhi, and Dehradun. Meanwhile, Alliance Air operates flights to Delhi, Dehradun, and Bilaspur.
The inauguration of Prayagraj Airport took place on December 16, 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inugurated the airport.
However, the new terminal of Prayagraj Airport commenced operations on January 1, 2019. Just before the beginning of the Kumbh Mela-2019. Subsequently, enabling the movement of flights and passengers and connecting Sangam City to various parts of the country.
