PARIS- Boom Supersonic, the pioneering company behind the world’s fastest airliner, announced significant progress on its sustainable supersonic Overture during the Paris Air Show 2023.
The company showcased major milestones achieved for its Symphony™ engine, which powers Overture. Overture is designed to operate on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with a planned speed twice that of current airliners.

US Based Boom Supersonic secured crucial structural supplier agreements with industry leaders Aernnova, Leonardo, and Aciturri. Further, Aernnova will provide the wings, and Leonardo will handle the fuselage and wing box. Subsequently, Aciturri will contribute to the empennage.
These partnerships further expand Boom’s network of global suppliers. Which already includes renowned companies like Safran Landing Systems, Eaton, Collins Aerospace, Flight Safety International, FTT, GE Additive, and StandardAero.
As Overture advances toward production, the disclosure of the configuration of its full system is also made public.
Blake Scholl, Founder, and CEO of Boom Supersonic, expressed pride in the progress made by their team and partners.
He stated, “We are incredibly proud of the progress with Overture. Further, the Symphony from our global team of partners and suppliers who continue to operate at an accelerated pace toward the future of sustainable supersonic flight.”
Strong Commercial Interest and Opportunities
Boom Supersonic has received orders and pre-orders for a total of 130 Overture aircraft. Further, including commitments from major airlines such as United, American, and Japan Airlines.
Furthermore, the company is collaborating with Northrop Grumman on a defense variant of Overture. Which aims to tap into the larger market potential for supersonic aircraft.
During the Paris Air Show, Boom Supersonic provided an in-depth look at Overture’s comprehensive systems configuration.
The released schematics highlighted key systems, including avionics, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel systems, and landing gear. Each system has been meticulously designed and developed to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and safety.
Noteworthy among the highlighted systems is Overture’s fuel systems, which offer center of gravity control during subsonic and supersonic operations and compatibility with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Triple redundant hydraulic systems provide reliable power for flight controls and mechanical operations.
Overture’s landing gear is also designed to accommodate international airport runways and taxiways, facilitating takeoff and landing on over 600 routes worldwide.
