The distance between Pune and Mumbai will be reduced by more than 2.5 hours thanks to Air India’s new flights, which start on March 26.
In India, the flight from Mumbai to Pune is among the busiest. The daily flights from Pune to Mumbai and the other way around are very advantageous for those who go from Pune to Mumbai.
Air India flight
The largest city in Maharashtra is Mumbai, with Pune coming in second. Pune is known as an IT hub of India since it is home to various small and large businesses with offices and manufacturing facilities.
The city lacks international connectivity while being a thriving economic hub due to its poor airport infrastructure. The Indian Air Force and civil passengers both use the runway at Pune International Airport.
Air India will start on March 26
The flying movements are under the authority of the Indian Air Force, thus there is little possibility for growth. A serious space constraint would still exist even if the Air Force approved more flights.
Instead of the three-hour trip from Pune to Mumbai, passengers can now take a one-hour flight. A direct service between the two cities will be run by Air India beginning on March 26.
The flight will be made on the airline’s revived 9W route using an Airbus A319 aircraft. Travelers from Pune will find it straightforward to visit other nations thanks to the trip to Mumbai.

Because of layovers, all other flights between Pune and Mumbai take between six and 25 hours, making them redundant. Six days a week, barring Saturdays, the flights will run as scheduled. The plane operated by Air India will leave the airport in Pune at 11:20 and land in Mumbai at 12:20. Although reservations for the flights may already be made, the service won’t start up until March 26.
There are currently no direct flights linking the two cities, despite the fact that the original air service at the Pune airport was started on the Pune-Mumbai route.
The last one was run by Jet Airlines, which shut down in April 2019. With the restart of its outdated Pune-Mumbai route, Air India has become the first airline to offer a direct connection after the Airports Authority of India recently confirmed action on starting services between the airports.
