According to top officials with the aviation regulator DGCA, a Cessna 152 aircraft belonging to pilot training organisation GATI crashed near the Birasal airfield in Odisha on Monday, injuring its student pilot.
According to them, the student pilot was taken to the hospital, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has begun an investigation into the event.
They said that the aircraft, with the registration number VT-EUW, skidded off the runway while landing at the Birasal airport.
The aircraft’s propeller and nose wheel were also damaged in the collision, they said.
GATI, a DGCA-approved flying training organisation, has a fleet of Pipistrel SW121s, Cessna 172s, and a Piper Seneca V multiengine aircraft.
