EDINBURGH- Today, VINCI Airports, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, inked a deal to purchase a 50.01% ownership interest in Edinburgh Airport (EDI) Limited, the entity behind Edinburgh Airport, for £1.27 billion.
The acquisition is anticipated to be finalized in the Summer of 2024, subject to regulatory green lights. Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), the current owner since 2012, will retain management of the remaining 49.99% stake.
VINCI Partnership With GIP
This acquisition represents a significant milestone in the ongoing strategic collaboration between VINCI Airports and GIP, which commenced in 2019 with VINCI Airports acquiring a majority stake in London Gatwick Airport (LGW).
In 2023, Edinburgh Airport reported a total revenue of GBP 272 million and an EBITDA margin of 65%, and it will now be fully integrated into the Group’s financial statements.
Leveraging its extensive experience managing airports worldwide, VINCI Airports intends to enhance Edinburgh Airport’s operations in aviation-related activities and non-aviation sectors, particularly retail, by introducing new flight routes and investing in infrastructure.
Furthermore, VINCI Airports will apply its environmental proficiency to enhance the airport’s already impressive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance metrics.
Edinburgh Airport boasts a seasoned management team that will remain at the helm, a prospect that VINCI Airports eagerly embraces as they integrate into its worldwide network.
This iconic asset in Scotland seamlessly aligns with the growth agenda.
