GURUGRAM- Air India (AI) will remove the en-route fuel stop at Vienna (VIE) on its Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) service from 1 August 2026, cutting nearly three hours from the westbound journey.
The airline announced the change alongside the deployment of its new Boeing 787-9 on the route, which restores daily flying to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and brings Premium Economy to Canada for the first time.
Air India Removes Vienna Stop on Toronto Flight
Air India today announced a significant upgrade to its Delhi to Toronto service. The sector currently operates with a technical fuel stop at Vienna, and the new Boeing 787-9 will allow the airline to operate it without that stop.
The removal of the fuel stop is subject to available airspace, according to Air India. Westbound flying time is expected to fall from about 20 hours, including the stop, to around 17 hours.
The Toronto to Delhi sector already operates non-stop and will continue to do so, with a block time of up to 16 hours.
Daily Delhi to Toronto Flights Resume From August
Air India will operate daily flights between Delhi and Toronto from 1 August 2026, up from the current five weekly services.
The airline had temporarily reduced frequency on the route between June and July 2026, citing unprecedented fuel price increases and broader geopolitical developments that affected flight operating conditions.
