BANGKOK- Thai Airways (TG) is preparing a major overhaul of its long-haul passenger experience as the carrier moves toward a more standardized fleet strategy.
The airline has confirmed plans to introduce a new generation Business Class product across its Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and Airbus A350-900 fleets beginning in mid-2027.
The announcement marks a significant step in the transformation of Thai Airways, which has spent recent years restructuring its operations under a rehabilitation program.
The carrier, based in Bangkok (BKK), aims to improve fleet consistency, modernize cabin products, and create a more competitive premium travel experience across its international network.

Thai Airways New Business Class Rollout Plans
For decades, Thai Airways operated one of the industry’s most varied fleets, featuring multiple cabin configurations and passenger products across aircraft types. This often resulted in an inconsistent experience for travelers, particularly on long-haul routes.
The airline now plans to streamline that approach through a fleet-wide cabin modernization program. Beginning in mid-2027, Thai Airways will retrofit its Boeing 777-300ER fleet with completely redesigned interiors, OMAAT reported
At the same time, the carrier will start receiving new Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft, which will enter service with the latest cabin products already installed. The modernization effort will later extend to the Airbus A350-900 fleet, with retrofit work expected to begin in 2028.
The strategy will create a more uniform onboard experience regardless of aircraft type. Thai Airways also plans to introduce Premium Economy cabins alongside upgraded Economy Class seating on selected aircraft.

VantageNOVA Seats Next Generation Product
Thai Airways has selected the Thompson Aero VantageNOVA platform as its next-generation Business Class seat.
The product features reverse herringbone seating, direct aisle access for every passenger, and privacy doors designed to enhance comfort on long-haul flights.
The new cabin will replace a variety of existing Business Class products currently found across the airline’s fleet. Industry observers view the move as a major upgrade that aligns Thai Airways with evolving premium travel standards.
A notable feature of the redesign is the introduction of an enhanced front-row suite concept. The airline plans to replace traditional First Class with a premium “Business Class Plus” offering, providing additional space and exclusivity while maintaining a two-class premium strategy.
The VantageNOVA seat has not yet entered commercial service.
However, it is also scheduled to appear on future Airbus A350-1000 aircraft operated by Delta Air Lines (DL), making Thai Airways one of the first airlines to adopt the platform.

Fleet Modernization Plan Long Haul Upgrade
The cabin investment forms part of Thai Airways’ broader fleet renewal strategy. By standardizing premium cabins across Boeing 777s, Boeing 787s, and Airbus A350s, the airline hopes to simplify operations while strengthening its competitive position in the international market.
The changes will also support the carrier’s efforts to improve passenger satisfaction and brand consistency. Travelers will benefit from similar seating, technology, and onboard amenities regardless of the aircraft assigned to their flight.
As deliveries of new aircraft and retrofit programs progress, Thai Airways is expected to reveal additional details regarding cabin layouts, entertainment systems, and service enhancements.
The first aircraft featuring the new Business Class product are scheduled to enter service from mid-2027.
The rollout represents one of the airline’s most significant premium cabin investments in recent years and signals its commitment to building a more modern and consistent long-haul travel experience.
