TOKYO– Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled major updates to its international network and onboard offerings for fiscal year 2026, in response to growing travel demand across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia.
The carrier plans to increase frequencies on several long-haul routes while introducing additional premium services designed to enhance the passenger experience.
The expansion includes more flights from Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT), Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), and Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX).

International Route Expansion Strategy
Japan Airlines will increase service on several international routes beginning in the second half of 2026. Among the most notable changes, flights between Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) and San Diego International Airport (SAN) will rise to daily operations from September 2026.
The airline will also increase flights between Narita and Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru, to daily service from September.
The route has seen strong demand since its launch, reflecting growing business and leisure travel links between Japan and India.
Additional capacity increases are planned across other international markets. Services between Haneda and Helsinki Airport (HEL), as well as Kansai and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), will transition to daily operations between September and October.
Meanwhile, flights between Narita and Melbourne Airport (MEL) will increase during the northern winter schedule beginning October 25, 2026. The move will provide travelers with more options during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

A350 London Flight Expansion Plans
Japan Airlines will further expand deployment of its flagship Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. Beginning October 1, 2026, the airline will operate the aircraft on the Haneda-London route served by flights JL41 and JL42 through March 27, 2027.
The addition means both daily London services will feature the carrier’s newest long-haul aircraft for a limited period. The Airbus A350-1000 already operates on JL43 and JL44 between Tokyo and London.
The aircraft features JAL’s latest cabin products across all classes and has become a centerpiece of the airline’s long-haul fleet modernization strategy.
With the London expansion, the A350-1000 network will cover five international routes and a total of 14 weekly flight segments.

Enhanced New Inflight Services Experience
Alongside network growth, Japan Airlines is expanding several customer-focused onboard initiatives.
The carrier’s redesigned Business Class meal service, first introduced on New York flights earlier in 2026, will be rolled out to additional long-haul routes beginning in June.
A key feature of the updated service is an expanded dessert selection presented through a dedicated dessert cart. The airline says the concept adds a more personalized touch to premium cabin dining.
JAL will also introduce Hakurakusei Junmai Ginjo, a premium Japanese sake produced by Niizawa Sake Brewery in Miyagi Prefecture, to Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins.
The exclusive beverage was developed specifically for the airline and aims to showcase Japanese hospitality and culinary culture.
The carrier is also enhancing its entertainment catalog to commemorate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ first visit to Japan in 1966.
Passengers will gain access to all 13 original studio albums from the iconic British band, along with the documentary film “The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years.”
