PARIS– Air France (AF) is rapidly expanding its free Starlink-powered inflight internet service, with nearly 60% of its aircraft now equipped with the high-speed connectivity solution.
The carrier aims to complete the fleetwide rollout by the end of 2026, making it one of the fastest large-scale Starlink deployments in commercial aviation.
The SkyTeam member first announced its partnership with SpaceX in September 2024 and began installing the service across its fleet during the second half of 2025.
The airline offers complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi to Flying Blue members, allowing passengers to connect multiple devices and access gate-to-gate internet connectivity.

Starlink Rollout Progress
Air France has made significant progress by installing Starlink simultaneously across several aircraft types.
The strategy has accelerated deployment and helped the airline achieve one of the highest adoption rates among major global carriers.
As of early June 2026, Starlink is available on 28 of 31 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, representing roughly 90% of that fleet.
The airline has also equipped 45 of its 56 Airbus A220-300s, 24 of 30 Embraer E190s, and 30 of 41 Airbus A350-900s with the service.
Installation work has also begun on the Airbus A320 fleet, where three of 28 aircraft now feature Starlink connectivity.
However, the airline has not yet introduced the system on Airbus A321s, Boeing 777-200ERs, Boeing 787-9s, or Embraer E170s.

Air France’s Starlink’s Installation Strategy
The carrier has prioritized aircraft operating premium and long-haul routes, particularly its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.
Notably, every 777-300ER featuring Air France’s latest La Première cabin product has already received Starlink installation.
Several older aircraft types, including the Airbus A318, Airbus A319, and Airbus A330-200, will not receive the upgrade. Air France plans to retire these aircraft by spring 2027, making further connectivity investments impractical, OMAAT flagged.
During the transition period, the airline continues to offer its existing onboard internet products.
Flying Blue members retain access to complimentary messaging, while passengers seeking full internet access can purchase premium connectivity packages where Starlink is not yet available.

Industry Leadership
The rollout places Air France among the global leaders in Starlink adoption. Only United Airlines currently operates a larger number of Starlink-equipped aircraft, while Air France ranks among the top carriers by percentage of fleet coverage.
Starlink’s low-latency satellite network enables passengers to stream content, browse the internet, conduct business activities, and use online services much like they would on the ground.
The technology has become increasingly attractive to airlines seeking to improve passenger experience and remain competitive in the premium travel market.
With nearly 60% of its fleet already connected and installations progressing across multiple aircraft types, Air France remains on track to complete one of the aviation industry’s most ambitious inflight connectivity upgrades by the end of 2026.
